I live on campus and the water here is not as pure as it should be. The chlorine is sometimes so strong that you can smell it. This water filter completely elimates this from the water and captures any other impurities. The water doesn't taste like tap water after it goes through this - it tastes like Poland Springs or any other bottled water! Great way to save money on bottled water!!
My dog wasn't drinking the water. Had a 25,000 gal filter on my fauset & it had been on for a year. It didn't say it filtered anything but did make the water taste pretty good & to replace would be $50+. Had a Brita pitcher but was not a fan but ok. Decided to get this & water does taste great. My dog says it's delicious too! Took 3 tries to get lid light to work. Just had to hold & count to 8-10 seconds not 5. After a few days the filter would not let water thru so put blue inner plastic pitcher, that holds the filter, rest sideways ontop the the clear pitcher & let the water free flow down into the clear plastic pitcher then put it back together. Not a big deal. Got 2 free filters with my purchase. Hooray!!
I don't want to jinx, but right now this PUR pitcher far meets my expectations. I read so many mixed reviews on this product before I bought it so I wasn't sure but I took a risk and I am glad I bought it. Mine even came with an extra filter, so two total, which is great! It doesn't leak, the top is secured but easy to remove to fill back up, electronic change light works, water tastes very good, and easy to install the filter. I used to buy everything Brita, the soft squeeze & hard sided bottles for adults and kids. The soft squeeze ones got so gross quick because the top was always exposed. Then I upgraded to the hard sided ones and it just would not stop breaking on me. Every single bottle. I clean it, the water doesn't suck up. I put the top down for hygiene when out and about like it is made to do, the water doesn't suck up. It got so annoying. I wasn't even going to risk buying a Brita pitcher because I just now think their products are not made good. Honestly, poorly made. Overall, I am so happy I went with this PUR pitcher. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone! I have only been using it for about 2-3 weeks, so I only hope it continues to work great!!!
This is the best overall water purifier. I've tried "Zero Water" and while it reduces water impurities by 3% more the container is cumbersome to use, the lid never stayed on especially when pouring, I had to return the filters twice to the manufacturer because they stopped working (evidently their design was flawed-according to their customer service), their filters were more than double the price of the "Pur", & when the filters worked it took almost 1/2 hour to get 1/3 of the container filled, the "Zero Water" was much more expensive initially and more expensive to use overall. So for the 3% difference I went back to "Pur" (I owned "Pur" before I had tried "Zero Water") because in the end the 3% purity difference was not worth the filter & overall price difference.
It hold plenty of water at one time to thoroughly get chilled before needing to add more water. The sensor to tell me when I need to change the filter is much more accurate than my memory. Plus it has an early stage to give you a chance to purchase new filters, in case you don't have any.
We love the filter pitcher.. What we did was bought a plastic pitcher and this pitcher and once the PUR pitcher filters the water we pour it into the other pitcher that way we always have cold filtered water. One thing we don't like is we have the flavor that you can push button while pouring in to cup, that doesn't work to well. Seems to stay right in little area where it holds the flavor pouch. Other then that, pitcher stays together great, easy to open and put back together.
What first actually caught my attention with this system was the flat shape of the pitcher. Perfect for frig. I have been using it awhile and it is very good with filtering some irksome tasting lake supplied water. Its results taste good enough I find I am drinking more water. I have already told a neighbor about its quality, and being relatively inexpensive too. I got the cap that tells when to change filters, great idea. It is exactly as advertised: fresh, good tasting water; good value. Thanks PUR.
The best feature of this pitcher is that it's compact and fits nicely in the refrigerator. The water filtration seems to be very cold. I definitely notice how much better my coffee tastes nor that I have the Pur water filtering pitcher. With regard to the LED light: It took me a while to figure out how it worked. It flashes a couple of times as you set the pitcher down after you pour the water. I haven't used the pitcher through the complete use of a filter yet, so I don't know how accurate the light is when it comes to indicating when a new filter will be needed. I think that the filters can be rather expensive. I really haven't compared their cost to that of 40 gallons of bottled water.
I purchased a Sodastream a few months ago and I love it but Florida has the worst tasting water I have ever encountered, so to get good tasting seltzer or soda, I had to lug home gallon containers of bottled water. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having the SodaStream. I looked around online to find a water purifying pitcher that had good reviews, reasonable price, small size and shaped to fit into a small refrigerator. This one met all my criteria. After using it several times, I can say the filtered water tastes as good as the bottled water I have been using. It takes only 2-3 minutes to filter a full pitcher. I keep a full pitcher on my counter and now use the water for cooking, which makes a definite difference in hot cereals, soup and so forth. The only negative I have is that the light indicator which is supposed to tell you when to change the filter does not work at all but this is not problem enough for me to exchange the pitcher.
took it back. could not get lid off.
