It's for talking on the phone !!!

I needed a dependable phone with good service. This is my phone for calling or simple texting. It's my phone that I took and will continue to take with me anywhere I want and not have to worry about the battery dieing every night. This bad boy now that I have two batteries, lasts on standby for months. Yes, MONTHS. SIngle battery on standby will last for a month roughly. Unlimited talk & text on Verizon. No need to worry about the web if all I'm doing is talking to my GF, or calling a cab, or ordering food, or making important calls. Might have to hit each key like we were doing before to get the letter, or wait a second to hit the letter again, but man o man, VERY SMART BUY. $13 for a cellphone? That lasts for weeks or months on a single charge? I'd like to see my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or your iPhone do that,$30/mo. even with another battery, which I also have for my rooted Note 4. Very satisfied. Just got back from a weekend at my GFs and the battery is like it was never discharged. Very nice. Gives me peace of mind. Charged it Thursday, and here it monday afternoon, I'm back home, and the battery looks fully charged.

I do need a cell phone for my own purposes but my needs are different from all those people who 'need' all the bells, whistles and expensive costs. When I first got my Gusto3 from Verizon I thought I'd check and see if Walmart carried any of the things like batteries, chargers and such. I was very (and pleasantly!) surprised to discover I could buy the Gusto 3 so inexpensively from WM. And being a practical person, I bookmarked the page so when my phone started to have problems (several years old it was) I clicked on the link. Yes, the link still worked. The phone was still available and still under $15 (with tax) and it was in stock. It was evening so I decided I'd order it online and pickup the next day, which I did. I also got to explore a new WM store (closer than my favorite and in a shopping center with more stores I might like to visit) and I would have stayed longer but since I had the phone I wanted to get home and transfer the service from the old (dead) phone to the new (charged and ready to go). What I like about the Gusto3: It is a flip phone It takes good photos (a minor issue, but still). It gives me good clear sound The keypad is responsive The programming (layout, etc) works well for me It holds a charge a l-o-n-g time I want prepaid service and I have a plan that fits my budget and gives me what I need and want. I had used other phones with other carriers but due to service area needs (friends in a rural area) I got a Verizon phone and so preferred it dropped the other company. I'm very happy with Verizon service. I know this review isn't about the carrier but the phone is linked to that company and you wouldn't want to buy a phone if the style/model of phone was the only reason you'd choose it. So how much do I like the Gusto3? So much so that at the price, I might buy another on just to have it on hand in case this phone goes swimming or falls down a flight of stairs or gets something heavy dropped on it. Humans are tough on their phones. Thank you WM for having what I want and need when I want and need it. I promise I'll try to give the little Gusto3 a good home.

Very Pleased With This Purchase!

I bought 2 of these phones, 1 for myself and the other as a gift. The activation was very simple (just follow the instructions in the booklet). Although the box cover says there is a $35 monthly plan available with unlimited talk & text, it is $30/month if you register and create an online account with the auto-pay option. However in my case, there is a small $2.02 tax which is added to the $30 making it $32.02 each month. The voice quality is excellent without any static or dropped calls which was a very common occurrence with my previous prepaid phones that I had with 2 other companies. For an amazing price of $9.99 I could not be happier with this purchase.

I love this phone and I expect it to last. Before I was using that LG with the slide out keyboard. It barely lasted a year. It works and I liked to text with it but the buttons are getting bad and then the keyboard felt off. I decided it's best to stick with the flip phones because my old phone was easy to call a random number while in my pocket. Now this phone, it's really nice feeling, everything feels nice. For 13 it's way better than the 80 phone, I wish the screen could be better but seeing this was the only flip phone it looks like everyone has to have a smartphone, so probably not enough demand for these. Even welfare people have smartphones yet I can't afford the bill. So stick to flip phones, they last and I loved all of the samsung phones that I've had. And the only thing I don't like is the ICE button because I have kids and I worry that they will get a hold of my phone and call 911, they're too young to understand it but maybe it will be a good thing and I can teach them when to use it or not use it, the button brings you right to 911 and your ice contacts. I know I would love that button if anything ever happened though.

This phone is great because all the frequently used areas of the phone are only one push button away. The Voicemail has its own button, the left soft key is setup for menu, and the right soft key is set up for contacts. There is also a button labeled ICE, where you can program a number for emergencies. And finally, Verizon came out with an affordable monthly plan for people who don't use smart phones.

GOOD POINTS: : Good phone for someone who doesn't want to do a lot of texting. Can answer by just opening phone.(great for this senior's arthritic hands) Uses $30 card unlimited talk and text LOW POiNTS: volume is not as loud as other phones. Would like to see some type of texture finish on back of phone instead of slick finish so it would be easier to hold Overall, I am very pleased with because I can use Verizon's Prepaid $30 monthly card

I bought this phone for my children to use in case of an emergency. It's not a smart phone but does the job for the price. It's labor intensive to text BUT that's perfect for teenagers as I would like children to spend their free time doing more productive things other than texting or playing games.

So I bought this phone thinking it would be the same as the one I bought 5+ years ago where I buy $100. of minutes and it lasts most of a year. Cost per minute is high but I have to keep my land line for Internet purposes. I just need this phone for an emergency or quick calls once in a while while traveling. Verizon doesn't make enough money already so they added $9. as a service fee on top of the $100. and $15. per month is taken out of the account balance. So there is no pay as you go plan anymore.
