Fun and Easy Phone with Endless Possibilities

Although I'm a pretty tech savvy person I never really cared much for my Blackberry. When it was time to upgrade I decided to try an Android phone and this phone seemed like the best value for what I wanted to spend. It had a ton more memory than the other similarly priced phones and a much better camera. Plus, I've always had better luck with Samsung phones, I think tend to build a more durable phone. After playing around with it for a few days, I'm so impressed. It is very easy to learn for someone new to Android phones. And it's just plain fun. As a mom, I'm already seeing ways this phone will make my life easier. The phone fits easily in your pocket or your purse. I was excited about the great camera for pictures on the go. It's so easy to crop and edit my pictures and they turn out great. I've already downloaded Pandora and set up a Wiggles channel to keep my daughter entertained on car rides. I was wary of the touch tapping as opposed to keys, but I'm getting used to it. The Facebook app for Android works for checking statuses, messaging, etc., but I have trouble seeing pictures. I ended up just googling Facebook and bookmarking it for when I want to see pictures. I wish it had a longer battery life, but I'm told that Androids across the board have the same issue. When I was looking online it seemed pretty overwhelming trying to sort out one phone from the other, but when I actually was able to go to the store and check them out, it was actually a pretty easy choice.

It is a really fast phone certainly the fastest phone I have seen. Carrying this phone is like carrying a laptop with me at all times. The screen is pretty amazing it has the same resolution as some of the phones with bigger screen which makes this phone the highest resolution phone among its peers that are currently on market. The ticker functions as it says, though I would want developers to utilize this more, specifically I would like gmail app, google voice, and other calender, clock, timer apps to utilize this ticker. I planned to use ticker as a quick way to show my schedule and keep me on track. Currently only the samsung built in programs can use this ticker and some of the programs are inferior than what you can find in android market. I would like to be able to change what program the ticker can support, currently this function is unavailable. Also at the beginning of using this phone it is easy to accidentally hit on the right side of the ticker and bring up a new page while you are doing something else, say typing for example. Though I am used to stay away from it now. This size of this phone is almost perfect, unlike bigger screen phones you can actually navigate everything with just phone hand, which in my opinion is more efficient and less laborious than using two hands. And you can switch hands when one get tired, whereas if you use two hands if both get tired at the same time you don't have a third hand to switch to. This is my first time using an android, I must say that it took me a long time to get use to it, I would stay at least 10 hours spent on messing up with the settings and looking through what programs I should download or buy from android market. Here are some programs I downloaded or bought: Google voice (one of the best programs a must to have) Light the way (turn your LED flash into a flash light) Pandora Dropbox Barcode scanner Kindle DataSwitch SBM for drawing Fast Reboot (yes even android phone can get slow sometimes and requires restart) RecForge to record lectures Pocket Informant beta Business Calendar beta File Manager OpenSearch Thinking Space Taber's medical dictionary Epocrates ColorNotes Google map Uninstaller Google translate Success Quote These are some programs I tried and found most helpful. This phone is perfect for playing movies or playing music. It is also great for viewing and storing document, but I would not recommend to type a paper with this phone yet...

Best Phone EVER!

This Phone is as the title says, the best phone I have ever owned, and that is saying something. The Ticker is probably the coolest feature on this device. When an Email/Text/Facebook Msg/Twitter update comes in all you have to do is just hit the ticker and there you are looking at the Msg! Not Fiddling around in the menu trying to get to it. Saves lots of time and is very efficient. With the 1 Ghz processor in the Continuum everything loads in a snap. Being used to the normal BB start up time (to those BB users out there, no offense.) I was at awe when this thing got up and took off with me attached to it. This phone out of the box is set for just about any user to take it for a joy ride. The ease of access and use of this device is astonishing. Though I had to ding it one star at design because of a struggle to get music set as ring tones. (which i found out later at the actual music player can you set music to ring tones.) But other than that everything was almost self-explanatory. (this coming from a moderate tech geek, your results may very.) As far as the price is concerned depends on if you buy it straight, or go for a plan price. Over all i'm very impressed with what Samsung dropped in my hands. With phones like these, Makes me want to see what else Samsung has to offer. =)

Great Buy... BUT NEEDS 2.2

Reviewed in the USA on 2011-08-24T17:00:00

Reading reviews for this phone really doubted whether I should get this phone for my upgrade, the big reason is that it is only running the Android platform 2.1, which is the primary reason that all the cons to my review exist. With 2.1 the battery life is only okay and a system update to 2.2 would greatly increase battery life, support flash player for the internet, and will let you access a lot more apps off the market that require 2.2 or higher. I am very disappointed to the Samsung development team for making a 2.2 build for this phone but not releasing it. On the other hand there are so many good things about this phone that make me very happy with my decision to get this phone. I love the AMOLED display with its super bright screen that you can see even in direct sun light. This phone has a super quick 1Ghz Hummingbird processor and of course you have access to the thousands of apps off the android market. I thought that being a guy with bigger thumbs will be difficult to text but it is actually very easy with the 3.4 in screen. The ticker is very handy and doesn't interrupt what you're doing if a call or text message comes. Has a very nice camera with a super bright flash. Overall I would recommend this phone to anyone its very easy to use. Only problem is that Samsung needs to update this headset to 2.2.

I wasn't really sure if I wanted a all touch screen phone, especially an android phone. I thought that it would be too bulky and complicated...well I can honestly tell anyone that this phone rocks!! All of it's features are great and I just can't seem to put it down. I also love the fact that it has a very slim design. I only wish that the battery life could last longer than a day. But I think I am at fault for that problem, as I said before I can't seem to put it down. It's a great phone!

This is my first smartphone and it has proven easy to use. Some of the features had to be updated out of the box, but I see that as meaning there have been continued improvements to the features and apps. The screen is very bright and colorful. The controls are intuitive. The ticker is nice because it shows messages, news, information, the time, the weather, and incoming call notices all in one place. Thanks once again Samsung.

Finally upgrading to get rid of my 3RD Continuum!!

Reviewed in the USA on 2012-05-24T17:00:00

I purchased my 1st Continuum in mid 2011. Since then I have had to have it replaced (thank God for a warranty) because the phone would lock up, I'd be in the middle of a call and it would cut off, the phone would reset itself in the middle of anything whether it was a phone call, browsing the web or Facebook, texting, or checking voice mail. I have had the SAME problems with all 3 phones and heaven forbid you add any "apps" to the phone it only makes it worse. The 1st phone they told me it was something wrong with the phone, the 2nd phone same thing...this 3rd one I finally was able to upgrade and now am waiting on my Droid to come in the mail. I would not recommend the phone to anyone that doesn't have patience to say the least. And with a son that recently got his drivers license I can't afford to have a cell phone that doesn't work when I need it. Hoping the Droid is a better phone. I've had SEVERAL Samsung phones and have always been happy with their phones...this is a 1st for me to not be happy with it! And lastly, when I am on the phone and having a conversation the background noise will be over me talking...drives my husband insane to hear the birds chirping over what I am trying to say and I have to ask him to repeat what he says as well alot of times. Sound quality isn't the best.

I had hoped that there would be an update for Android over the summer. I have had the phone over 6 months and there has already been an update to Android 2.3.4. There is no way to move apps to the micro sd card without an upgrade to 2.2 so all of the apps I would love to have on my phone slow it down to where I can't use the phone! There needs to be something done... I am not wanting to buy anymore of your products due to this!

This phone appears to be stuck in limbo, on Android 2.1 with no hope for Samsung or Verizon to follow through and update this phone. The current OS means: which means: no Google music app, no facebook messenger app, and flash websites are not compatible with this phone (one of the perks of android, supposedly). I should have gone with my gut and purchased an iPhone, or at least the Fascinate. The Continuum is super slow, the screen display area is actually quite small, it feels bulky, and the "ticker" is not customizable at all, and mostly just gets in the way. No FB or email alerts appear in the ticker, but when you accidentally bump the weather icon mid-text. you have to wait to load the weatherbug app, then close it, then be more careful next time. Buyer beware- this phone is NOT worth the frustration.

I have had my Samsung continuum for over 6 months now. Overall its the best phone I have ever had. The performance is unparalleled to any other phone I've had. Its lightweight, superthin and super durable. I drop it on hard surfaces daily, It has gone swimming with me (not recommended) and still worked no problems. I WANT SAMSUNG TO SUPPORT THIS PRODUCT. I own one of THE FASTEST PHONES ON THE MARKET and its CRIPPLED by 2.1 ANDROID OS. I am particularly disappointed that almost all other galaxy s phones are now at android 2.2 and some are even at 2.3 now. I go to the marketplace and most of the new exciting games and apps require android 2.2. My options are limited to retro bad graphics games. This phone has the same hardware specs that the fascinate (runs 2.2) has, and yet no update. My dad has the fascinate and his phone has really become a different phone after he updated from 2.1 to 2.2 OS. Please Samsung support my phone. I believe in you and trust you will make this right. Sincerely, Loyal Customer
