Can't thank WALMART enough for the prompt delivery. The phone was a Christmas gift. When I ordered it, WALMART advised that it wouldn't arrive until Dec. 27th. Surprisingly, it actually arrived on Dec 22d, and I was able to surprise my wife with her much wanted personal cell phone. Great work WALMART....Happy New Year!
This phone doesn't have all of the options of a smart phone but what it does it does great and that is make calls from fringe areas. Works better than most of my friends phones that cost a lot more. If you just need to make and receive calls or for an emergency then this is a great choice. This is my 3rd phone and the best by far.
This phone was much less expensive from Walmart than from Great Call (although you don't get their "free" car charger, but we didn't need that). The free shipping from Walmart was super fast; had it in just four days. Activation was easy; you can start it online, but you have to finish it by phone, and Great Call, of course, tries to up sell you on their plans. We just did the basic plan at $14.95 per month to start. (You have to pay extra to get voicemail, but we didn't need that.) Activation was $26.xx with fee. Excellent customer service. The phone is very easy to use for Mom - the keyboard and display is much different from a regular cell phone, and is very intuitive and simple to navigate, the keys are large, and we like having Verizon as the carrier (best network). The phone is a nice Samsung model.
Purchased this cell phone for my mother who has macular degeneration. She is 90-years-old and also has trouble hearing, but is pretty alert. Also chose the silver phone with black lettering as it appeared that the numbers were easier to view than with the red one. Although she did not think that she would be able to use it, she has and with no problem. We just programmed in a one-number dialing for each family member and she wrote the numbers down to remember. Now all she has to do is push one button for who she wants to call, followed by the 'yes' button. We set the cell phone to ring like a regular telephone. As we visit her, will check on whether or not it needs charging, but as she does not use it continually, the charge lasts pretty long. I liked the price and the convenience of buying through Walmart.
Phone is very simple to use. BIG buttons! On screen instructions. No contract! Flexible plans! and the phone works in rural areas that many other phones will not. I got this one for my Father who is 81 and he loves it! Just for receiving and making phone calls. No other bells and whistles that he doesn't use anyway.
Bought for 89 yr old father who is in a nursing home, but well enough to spend all day outside of his room. Simple to understand and use the basic phone functions. Did not bother with camera, etc. Only issue so far was in setting this up for my father who lives in a another state. The online set-up site started out good, expecting that the person setting up might have purchased for someone else, but screwed up as it went to the summary page replacing all of my father's info with my own. Called CS - person said she fixed it, but it did not fix and assigned a phone number in my area code, not his. Called CS - 2nd person got me a new phone number in his area and said he fixed it, but info did not change in the account and then the phone did not work at all on either number. Called CS - 3rd person finally cared enough to really fix it with help from supervisors. This took me 1.5 hours on the phone for something that should have taken about 10 minutes online. Good news is that with the Q&D cheat sheet I made for the basic phone function (since I could not be there to show him how to use it myself) my Dad has been able to receive and make calls. I entered numbers for relatives in the phone book for him. The voice is clear and seems to be working well. Now I can talk to my Dad, which is all I wanted from this basic phone.
While this phone is well built and durable! The problem that I encountered was the fact that it does not use a SIMS card so while it advertises no contract it does not say any thing about the lack of application to other networks i.e. ATT or Verizon etc. had to return it.
I love the size of the phone, it is very user friendly. It is easy to program, and I love to be able to contact 911 so easily. I was NOT happy with the billing though. My first bill came in just days after receiving the phone and it was demanding payment for a full month instead of just the week. Did not seem fair at all.
This is a simple phone for seniors but one of the main reasons we bought this for my 80 year old father is that he would turn the volume of the ringer down on his old phone by accident. This phone is worse, just bumping the button while the phone is ringing mutes the ringer. Dad will have this in his pocket or holster and lean to hear if the phone is ringing and then think he was just hearing things as it stopped ringing cause the button is so sensitive. Now I am back on the search for a phone without the buttons on the side for the ringer and volume. It would be nice if someone made a phone with all of the controls on the inside of the flip.
I think the phone was fine, but I returned it. You have to pay extra for voice mail, the call history is limited to 10 calls, and the phpne book will hold 50 #'S, not 50 names, but 50 #'s. Everyone I know has at least 2 #'s, which means you are now down to 25 in the phone book. Do your research, which I didn't do before hand. It is probably a great phone for a really elderlr person living alone, but not for me. Walmart was great, took back with full refund, no questions. What would we do without Walmart? I did not even activate this phone, I read reviews, contacted Cellular carrier and decided this was not thevappropriate phone for me.
