Someone wrote that they received a phone that was already activated on Sprint . .well DUH . . that's what FreedomPop is--what did they expect? Customers should know what they are buying before they buy and then complain how what a bad product they got! I have used the FreedomPop service for a couple of years now, through 3 different devices (I keep dropping them and breaking them), and have been very satisfied. But a word of warning: mostly only good for surfing the net, pretty worthless for making reliable phone calls.

Freedompop is a new company that has a lot to offer. Like the previous review said its Free if you activate and pay full price for the phone. Or if you keep active service for 6 months. But for half the price of everyone else you get so many more services.. I think this ad is pretty old because I see at http://freedompopshop.com they are currently offering the same SIII for $79.99.

I have been using my Galaxy SIII with Freedom pop for about 5 months now. Here's what I learned. You want to always keep BOTH wireless and data turned on. If wireless is available (and you have access to that wireless network), your phone will use wireless for your calls instead of your data allotment. If wireless is not available and you have a cell signal, you call will go over the cell phone's data for you call automatically. It's a little bit confusing as to how it works. You do get 200 free talk minutes per month, 400 free texts per month AND 500mb data per month. Wireless calls (I was told by premium customer service) doesn't count toward your minutes. Wireless data use does not count toward your 500mb per month. When you get to only having 100mb of data remaining or (I believe) when you run low on minutes, your credit card will be charged automatically for a 'top up'. When you activate your phone, go to the freedompop website and look around. You will find an option to disable that automatic top-up. The drawback to that is that when you run out of data/minutes, you're cut-off unless you manually add minutes/data or you up your plan to a monthly plan with more minutes/data (which will cost you money. (Of course, you can connect to your wireless network and continue to use voice and data.) I use my phone very rarely. I almost always stay connected to my wireless network at home, so I don't have to worry about using up data or minutes. 400 texts is more than I need in a month, too. Having said all of that, I signed up for their Freedompop Phone Premier plan for $9.99 per month. This adds Visual Voicemail, Data Rollover (my unused data will be banked to use anytime -- I can save up to 20GB of data), Pay as You Go Data savings of 50% (if I go over my available data, I can purchase more at a 50% savings), Usage alerts so I know if I am getting close to running out of anything, Freedompop Tethering, so I can use my phone as a hotspot so other phones, tablets, computers, etc can use the internet 4G/3G depending on what I have available (fully configurable), Premium Voice (Ensure high-quality voice, even when network connection is low), Data Compression (compresses internet data so I can get up to 2x more data packed into my megabyte usage), Premium personal support via e-mail or phone (Which has been excellent), Private VPN Internet, and antivirus with other tools for all my devices. Also, you can add Freedompop friends and each one you add will give you an additional 50mb of free data every month (for you and them!). You can share your data with your friends too. Got some extra and a freedompop friends needs some, gift it to them and they can do the same for you when you run low. I would give this phone 5 stars, but I took off a star because of battery use. Because of having to have the wireless and data turned on at all times, the stock battery does not last very long at all. I go from 100% to about 50% in a matter of 4 hours. There are bigger batteries that can be purchased for relatively cheap, though.

It's very very bad. They charged my credit card without any notice and without my request of any service. I have been unable to receive call and text several times per month. Unable to send text and make calls too. The only thing that works is data but only before 500 MB level, after that it's terrible. Extremely unsatisfied...

I recieved a phone that was still activated through sprint, I have wasted countless hours trying to get this resolved. I should have not been sent a phone that is still actviated through another company, this should have been checked before sending these out to the customers. unsatisfied customer!!!!

When I received what was supposed to be a "reconditioned" phone it was in awful condition. The front screen was covered in scratches, someone had covered the back with a sticker, before shipping the sticker was removed but I had to use goo-gone to get the phone clean. I finally just decided to return the phone for a refund because when I contacted freedom pop they had NO better pricing plans than what I was already receiving through nTelos Wireless. I would not recommend this phone service to my worst enemy. This is just my opinion.

Says brand new but not!

It says brand new in the description, but upon receiving it, says refurbished and there's lots of dings on side of screen. Worst part is that the serial number in the box is not the same with in the phone. Someone could have switched it either a Walmart Staff or Freedompop themselves!! Have a difficult time in sending it back because the local store would not accept it because of the serial number discrepancy. This is second time I have a problem with Freedompop refurbished phones. First one is through Ebay with a defective touch screen even though it says it's in excellent condition. Should not trust Freedompop with their refurbished phones, perhaps it should belong to the trashcan!!

BAD COMPANY

The phone is great, but their service not working. For example, when you activated the device it say 1 cents to activated. It will charge you $10 every month even thought it say its free 500 minutes, 500 Mbs, and 500texts for life. Why I know because I activated 2 device from Freedompop. Also it's not a real phone. If finish using your internet data the phone stop working. This service used S.P.I, what is mean its that it used internet calling only. No internet, No phone. I don't want you to be like me. When I see it, man I say its a deal. But no when you called Freedompop you figure it out quick. Save your money for better things.
