For the price, this is a great phone. Big screen, latest OS, long-lasting battery, Gorilla glass. But I don’t want to spend much time reviewing it. I want to warn everybody about one unfortunate aspect of this plan (VM Custom.) As you know, flexibility is one of the main selling points here. You can start with $7 plan and then add packets of messages, minutes or data in small increments of $2 - $3 “as you go”. However, they charge a fixed “Prepaid Wireless E9-1-1 Fee” WITH EVERY SINGLE TRANSACTION. Here in Connecticut it’s $0.70. So, for example, if you make 5 upgrades during one month you will be charged this fee 6 times (+1 for the initial plan) for the total of $4.20 (in Connecticut; your state’s fee can be different.) This is how you can check: login to your account, click on “Account”, then “Purchase History”, find any transaction marked “Charged to Credit Card” and click on “Purchase Detail”. This fee was never meant to be paid more than once per service period (monthly.) But because this plan works so differently, we have to pay it multiple times. I called VM support, and they confirmed that. I hope that VM will find a way to solve this problem, as this plan has been marketed primarily to price-conscious customers.

OUTSTANDING little phone with a VERY flexible plan

First let me get this out of the way this is not an Iphone nor could it ever hope to be at this price, also this plan isn't for the person who streams videos on the mobile web every second the sprint 3g can't stream fast enough for that and even if it could it'd get costly very quickly, but for the inbetweeners such as myself it's perfect (this review is as much about the service as it is the device itself because reviews of the service basically don't exist). Starting with the phone in a word near-perfect (coming from a LG hater that's very high praise), Wow where do I start? The screen is like an Iphone buttery smooth, the battery puts my 4 inch Galaxy light to shame easily getting 2 days with moderate to heavy use, kit kat is a nice touch(I just upgraded google search and have google now from any screen including the lock screen which I thought was a nice touch OK Google way to go), transitioning between apps is amazingly smooth(again don't expect an iphone or an s5 and you'll do fine), also it's perfectly weighted for me I think some phones are just too small and light but this one is beautifully weighted, which brings me to size(including screen size) big gorgeous screen I can see everything perfectly at fifty percent but unfortunately for me I had to suppress it further towards 25% because I literally enjoy it so much I'm constantly on it and can only get a little over a day and a half on it(my galaxy would be dead in 12-15 hours of me using it like that, if that)it is a 4.5 inch gorilla glass screen which has already taken a tumble on the floor and suffered no ill effects (I need to get a case with 2 little kids around but love how it feels so much did I mention it's perfectly weighted oh sorry lol), but if there is one con which there certainly is, it's the space on the internal ssd it's short at a little over a gig new but to my great amazement I popped a micro sd card in and the option to move to sd was there (thought they removed that with kit kat but happy to see it here). therefore not the end of the world just have to watch it. If you don't believe how good of a phone this is Boost mobile has the same phone under a different name(LG Realm) look it up yourself. The service is Sprint which is what it is it's only 3g so it's sucky slow(sadly the pulse is only 3g bluh) but good enough for my needs (shoot this is the first smartphone with mobile data I was always dependent on wifi so to me it's pretty cool), the calls in my area are good to great (hd voice, my wife's phone also has hd voice with T-mobile it's amazingly clear one day I thought my wife was right behind me I kid you not), sms seem to work just great also, with-in a second or 2 they are sent and received. Plans are down right cheap if you have several people on the same plan and they all use little to no data with a average amount of minutes/texts and the plan is fully customizable throughout the month if you have bought too much just take it back off before your monthly service date(one month after you activated it), reappropriate the money for another service or save for next month, easy. Seen a lot of bad reviews from Virgin Mobile and I did call them once or twice and they seemed clue-less but as long as it works so well I never have to call them and we're both happy. In conclusion my 15 day return policy @ Walmart is running out and I figured to be taking it back the day after I purchased it (thought it'd be that bad, sometimes it's nice to be pleasantly surprised) will I keep it? Idk the phone is great and the adjustable service is nice and inexpensive if you keep a tight leash on things, I probably will keep it if just for a while until other carriers catch up with this new model(still love t-mo they just can't beat these prices I'm paying $17 a month on T-mo it'd be $30 but unlimited 2g) the price is keeping me on this plan for now but if t-mo had something like this even at a slightly more expensive price I'd be all over it(cannot afford $30 a month maybe $20).

Great Phone w/ Lots of Features...But Not Perfect

PROS: Lots of customization--> I am actually really impressed w/some of the features it came with. i.e.: It runs KITKAT 4.4.2 Being able to hide apps you don't want in your app drawer. Disabling apps you don't use. A backup and restore option that reminds me of Titanium Backup + more. You used to have to be rooted to enjoy some of the aforementioned features! Its very snappy(no freeze-ups yet). Big screen w/bright colors. Weighs like nothing. Slim & sleek design Battery is AWESOME!! It out-performs my brothers Moto Droid Razr Maxx by a lot. (15 hrs@61% w/MEDium use) CONS: It does have very little memory and though you can move apps to the SD card, its a no-go for system apps(which is using up like 3/4 of the memory) Screen is only 480x800. Back cover is really slippery-I'd suggest a case of some sort SUMMARY: For a NO-Contract phone that has these features w/ the CUSTOM plans, I don't think you're gonna find a better deal at this price. If you think about it, you probably will pay more for a name brand media player that CANT do half of what this can.

He loves the phone, I love the value. The screen is larger, it can do anything he needs it to do, the custom options for buying time are really a great value.

The Virgin Mobile custom prepaid service is a great service for anyone on a tight budget that is not a heavy user of data which I am not. This service is only available at Walmart. I use the phone on WiFi at home and in hot spots for data which saves me a lot of money . If you can control your usage this phone will save you allot of money. As for the LG pulse it is a great phone I would have given it five stars if it only had more memory. I added a 16 Gig memory card but you can not download music files directly to it so you need to first download it to the phones internal memory and then transfer it. Because the phones memory is so small you can only transfer a little at a time. I recommend you set up and transfer your music when you first get the phone before you download a lot of apps so you will have more internal memory to work with.

I received my phones the day they were scheduled to arrive. I am very pleased with the phones, and the service with Virgin Mobile. I also paid for a 2 year warranty on the phones, but I have not received any information on it yet. I hope I receive something soon.

We are very satisfied with this phone. Monthly service can be as low as $6.95 ish for a smart phone. Be careful with downloading apps though-unless u buy a memory card.

Custom plan useful for me but not everyone

The Phone - it has many features and Apps. Terrible battery life - drains in a 24 hour period. Power hungry especially in vibration mode. Camera quite good with close focus ability. Odd size makes it almost impossible to find a case that fits right. Initial setup was troublesome. Needed to reset by removing battery to continue download of updates before the phone worked. After setup completed, it worked fine. So far, it hung up once during a connection to the server to update my revised plan. Battery removal and re-insertion solved the problem. The Plan - I bought this phone for its flexibility in adjusting the plan. I visit USA for less than 2 months a year and need a phone that allows me to keep the phone number. Previously used $20/month plan. This allows me to change it to the minimum $6.98/month plan. When I visit, I can increase the minutes, text and data as needed and after I leave, I can modify the plan through the website. For people who have varying needs through the year, the Virgin Custom phone may meet your needs.

Two out of three were OK

I purchased one of these phones through Walmart.com because I wanted a better 'pay as you go' phone than the old flip phone I had from another carrier. I had minimal problems setting it up although I ended up downloading the full manual because the short guide provided with the phone is not very detailed. I purchased a second online for my husband and it appeared to be a refurbished phone that was not 'wiped.' We could not change the number and the phone would not download the set up information even after we left it running all night. I was able to exchange it at a Walmart store for another which works just great - and I added the new one to the existing plan. The flexible plan is terrific for us and these phones have good sound quality and are easy to text on - which are our only real concerns. Probably not enough smart phone for moderate or heavy web users. I marked this down to 3 stars due to the one that did not work; hard to tell how many others like that are out there.
