Super sturdy pressure mount gate with reinforced corners and a unique design rather than the overused diamond pattern. Latch is bordering slightly too difficult, and it's a little too tall to easily step over, which makes it a bit cumbersome, but very secure, so perhaps use in an area that doesn receive a lot of back and forth traffic if it needs to come down and go back up frequently
The instructions were pretty useless because the images shown seem dated, obe of the conponents are no longer part of the product, and the images and instructions didn't match, either. My husband and I were able to figure it out though, but because the space we used had an ornamental wood accent along the floor we had to set it above that. Doing that takes two people (I hold it above the molding and floor and my husband sets the bar) but it's do-able if you can hold the bar up and unlocked while setting the width of the gate. Should be a one man job if you can place it on the floor. Sets nice and tight, my giant, obnoxiously strong 10 month old isn't able to pull it down or budge it at all. It's a pain to step over but it's affordable and we're happy we were able to get a gate at all considering the average prices of other models.
This isna decent child gate.. it has a strip of wood all the way down the side of it for the cross member to be mounted to.. the cheaper gates just have a little down type of thing for the cross member to hook to.. so this seems much more durable. If anyone uses these and has the couple dollar cheaper one and then gets one of these. They will see exactly what I'm talking about and that the couple dollars is worth the moresturdy and better built gate this actually is.
The stoppers on the bottom of the gate fit onto the wall itself above the molding. You don't have to lift the gate to make it fit to the wall leaving a gap from the bottom of the gate to the floor.
I bought two of these gates and took them apart to use them to separate load area from front seats in our two SUV's in order to keep the dog from wanting to drive. They aren't very sturdy which is why I said "dislike" for babies. I would not want to see these at the top of stairs for example. I think they would work in same level doorways for babies but there are better, although more expensive, products that would do a better job.
The close mechanism is still a little too stiff and I keep breaking a nail trying to open it but (hopefully) it will loosen up and be easier to open and close soon. Otherwise it is what I needed as a doggie gate, just wish it would have been available in the store.
Sadly this gate did not last long. It is wood, so it was to be expected it would snap. It wonât work in every door because its either too tight bending it or too loose which our baby and toddler would just push it over. What I loved about it, it has a safety lock on the bar so my child couldnât lift it open. The old style ones dont have that. So if you are looking for a cheap wood gate I would recommend this one for that reason. I loved the white gaurd mess. It my baby could climb the other wider old style gate. This one he could not because the holes are smaller. So if you do buy this gate, do not over stress it. If it is too tight it just weakens the bar and it will snap. So this can only be used in certain areas. I highly suggest the Regalo Easy Step. We ordered both. Yes you have to put a holes in your wall to make it sturdy but it does the job and my toddler canât climb that gate.
Looks nice , but the clip at bottom to pull apart is crazy hard. It requires skill and strength to pull the under tab. IDK, it's easy to climb for little paws like toy breeds. Not a bad product but my little 5 lb puppy can climb it and jump over with a little climb help. Again the design helps them to climb and get over plus it's not very high. Maybe for older pets, ones that won't climb or jump? To size need to fingers to pull bottom tab apart with moderate amt of strength. Plus pull to lengthen the gate. I have RA so it's more difficult for me but I would still see some difficulty for others, possibly.
IT LOOKS LIKE A WELL MADE GATE BUT WOULD NOT FIT IN MY DOORWAY CORRECTLY. IT WAS TOO LOOSE, WHEN ADJUSTED TO THE NEXT NOTCH IT WAS WAY TO TIGHT CAUSING THE WOOD BAR TO SNAP WHEN TRYING TO LATCH IT ON THE FIRST TRY. MY DOORWAY IS A STANDARD SIZE. THE NOTCHES ON THE BAR MUST BE IN THE WRONG LOCATION TO DO THIS
Avoid buying this product. Had less than 72 hours and first use the wooden arm broke in two. The wood used is a step up from balsa wood. Cheaply made gate. Gate was installed on deck and first time unlocking the plastic lock mechanism it snapped in two. Now trying to see if I can get a refund on the two I bought.
