We were in need of both a night light and a room hygrometer when we saw this cute little night light called Kelvin. As a parent of two children, we have been through many different night lights and a few hygrometers. Never had we seen one with both and that had a room thermometer. When Kelvin arrived my daughter had already decided it was going to be hers since her night light stopped working on her sound machine. I agreed to let her get the first try to use it. Out of the box, it was already ready to go. Just plug in the cord to the night light and choose between the USB or the wall outlet plug. The choice of either plug was nice allowing for the night light to be more versatile where you want to use it. Once plugged in, it takes just a moment to power up and the clearly displayed room temperature appears in large numbers and the room humidity level clearly appears in smaller numbers below. The color of the night light is determined by the temperature in the room. As you can see from my picture our Kelvin was blue. Which means the room was a bit cold. You can also see we had high humidity in the room since this arrived just before Thanksgiving and we tried it out after all the company left and the house had food cooking in it all day. Later at night the color changed to a warm yellow, which means the room is a comfortable temperature. If the room would have been too hot the color would change to red. Kelvin comes preset with temperatures that are generally considered the right sleeping temperature for infants. If you want to change the settings to fit your climate or needs you can. We preferred to stick with the preset settings. Both my children are older than the baby years so I don't worry as much about the temperature but rather the humidity is important to me to make sure colds and allergies don't manifest from the moisture in the house being too dry or too moist. However, I really wish I would have had Kelvin when they were babies because the night light is a good glow for checking on baby and it's so important to make sure the room is the right temperature so they can rest easy without more wake-ups than they would have already had. If I had to pick one thing I love the most about Kelvin, it would hands-down be the size and design. It's just-the-right size. Small and compact, not taking up too much space on the nightstand. (see picture next to flower ring for idea of petite size). The design is adorable but modern. The circle shape with the display on top and the two black dots to add the look of a hippo nose is spot on for style and function. This makes a perfect gift for a child who likes a night light, for a baby shower, and/or for a Holiday baby gift..
This is the cutest little nursery thermometer. I love that it looks like a little bug. The color changing functionality of it is extremely helpful, because you do not have to squint in the middle of the night trying to figure out how warm or cold it in in the dark. The colors change to alert you of the temperature based on common sense knowledge of hot and cold. This is helpful because I had another brand a while ago and I always had to use the flashlight on my phone just to read it in the middle of the night when I went in to check on my little ones. This was an inconvenience because I usually woke at least one of the up. Eventually I stopped checking and just hoped for the best so that I did not have them wide awake in the middle of the night. I did my own test to measure the accuracy of the device prior to using it and it tested fairly well. I tried it inside and outside with an outside mercury thermometer to see if it was accurate or not. It is a great little piece of equipment that eases the mind of not only your little ones, but of parents too.
I am always worried if my babies room is too hot or cold at night. I got to be able to glance and keep an eye on the temperature because I'm always hot so I dont go by how it feels to me. As soon i plugged it up it registered the temperature right away. It also shows the humidity in the room which is a great plus.
This little night light is so cute! It's very small and does need to be plugged in so you will need an outlet. It glows in three colors; blue if the room is a chilly, amber for an acceptable temp and red if it's too hot. It also shows both the humidity and temperature on the top. It's great piece of mind for a new parent that their infant is sleeping in the best possible environment and it doubles as a nightlight for baby as well.
My daughter is almost four and has been sleeping in her own room for almost a year. She's had traditional outlet highlights and they have worked fine but this is so much cooler! It is not only a light but also displays the room temperature and tells you if it is too hot or too cold! You know if your child is in a comfortable sleeping temperature room as indicated by the color of the nightlight. If it's blue I know to turn the heat up a little since it's a colder month right now. It's nice to know the temperature of her room specifically since it's always a little cooler than the rest of the house. Still she tends to not sleep well in a room that is too warm so blue doesn't necessarily mean too cold for her. You can adjust it to your own preference. It is ready to use right out of the box. You simply plug in the cord so no set up. This would be great for an infant's room to judge how comfortable the temperature is. This is a great addition to any baby or toddler's room and would make a great gift! I love it!
Kelvin is the cutest nursery room monitor! You can customize the optimal room temperature based on your child's needs. It displays the room temperature and humidity levels, and changes color based on the temperature of the room so you always know if it is at a safe temperature without waking your child. You can also change the temperature display reading to show either Fahrenheit or Celsius. I love how it is small and easy-to-use. I also love how accurate it is. The temperature reading always matches my house thermostat, even after I adjust the temperature or turn off the heater. All in all, this is a fantastic product. It gives me peace of mind as a parent knowing it is a reliable and accurate product that tells me my baby's nursery is at a safe temperature. I highly recommend it!
This is the neatest little gadget. It's small enough to fit in your hand, and serves a big purpose. To test it out, we put it to use in our busiest room. Our house was set at 75°. It quickly registered the temperature and it illuminated to a soft red light to tell us it was too warm. The humidity level registered just as quickly and accurately. That night, we placed it in our son's room, he loved it as his night light. It was a soft yellow to tell us the temperature was just right. The kids love checking to see what color it will be and what the temperature is. It is made very well and seems durable so far. I'm actually going to take it to my classroom. Our temperature in the room is always hot. But the thermostat shows it's always 75°. Praying this little guy will prove that our classroom a/c is broken and it will be fixed asap.
Comes in a large box for the size of it. Light comes with an ac adapter. You can toggle between Fahrenheit or Celsius for your temperature setting by pushing the base of the device. You can also choose to have the nightlight off by pressing the LED button on the base. When the temperature falls below 68 the light turns blue. 68-72 degrees the light is amber. Over 72 degrees the light turns red. Adjusting the temperature setting is easy and quick by following the directions in setup guide. I personally did not have much use for the temperature part of this device as I have a thermostat in babies room. I found the temperature reading to be accurate for this device as it always matches the wall thermostat temperature. I do use and like that this device has a humidity detector. Device is less than 2 inches tall and takes up very little space. Its cute as a little nightlight with the little eyes on the side of it. As a nightlight it does put out quite a bit of light.
The product looks nice. Its light in weight. Very simple to use. Thermometer settings can be either in fahrenheit or Celcius. Reading also shows the humidity %. Night light is color changing. We don't have the control on changing the color. Each time you plug in and plug out , the color is different. The reading of the thermometer is sometimes correct and sometimes not. I believe the temperature has to be stable for sometime for the device to read it. If it was recently changed then the device won't pick the accurate results. Light is not too bright. It's perfect for night light.
I was expecting a lot more about this item, the appearance is very cute for my kids room but I always said when you a busy mommy that work full time is mommy full time I don't like nothing complicated that requires time so I don't know if I did't set up the thermometer well or what? because we felt changed on the temperature and the item did not change.
