As an eleven- year- old, I read and re-read this book until the spine broke. It is an all-time favorite. The series struck the right notes that remain in my memory until this day. The performance of Jo's impetuousness and her passion for her writing; Meg's modesty and maturity, Beth's talent and heart-breaking illness, and Amy's selfishness turned into lady-like elegance were all perfectly rendered to a teary- eyed happiness I recall. Laurie was perfectly cast. I could watch this over and over again, but I must go back to my new-ish copy to read again.
