I had a Home Cinema 5020UB for 7 years and used it approx 7,000 hours. Unit was trouble free except for maintenance items , 2 bulbs , 3200 hrs on first and 3500 on 2nd and Air Filter. Yesterday I upgraded to the Home Cinema 4010 4K. I was pleasently surprised with the picture. Just about as good as our 52" 4k Samsung TV. I pushed in the wall in my basement 3.5" to make a 6ft x 11ft screen and painted the wall with Sherwin Williams Pro white satin finish. You won't be disappointed with this Projector. It'll make a perfct Xmas present for the man cave
We love our 4010. The picture quality is excellent for both 4K and 3d movies. I really love the ability to control the focus and placement of the image using the remote. Once you get it right, it doesn't move. With our previous projector changing focus or alignment manually was a painful process requiring multiple attempts to get it right after removing your hands. Noise level is great. Brightness is perfect for our basement theater location we can even leave some lighting on without negatively effect on the picture. We would definitely recommend this projector.
Was trying to decide between this and the epson 5040 ub or the optoma uhd60 but ultimately went with this one. Very bright picture. 4k content is incredible. I have been nothing except extremely satisfied with it. Even my wife who did not want me to buy a new projector loves it. Absolutely incredible.
This is my third Home theater projector. It is by far the best. Picture quality is great setup and adjustability are easy. The device starts and shuts down quickly and while running is nice and quiet. I don't think I could be .ore pleased with any projector. Thanks Epson!
I was completely surprised when I found out how large this projector is. I hadn't paid much attention to the dimensions or weight of the unit until I purchased it and notice how large the box was. This unit was recommended by a reputable source as one of the best home theater projectors on the market. So, I made my decision based on that information and it's cost. There was another Epson projector that was recommended as being better but it was $1000 more. I owned a Panasonic PT-L500U HDTV Projector for over 17 years and it went out on me and at the time I purchased it, it was the best on the market. The technological advances over the years required not only a new projector but a new A/V receiver and other components. As stated in the beginning, the size of this projector was so much larger than the Panasonic projector (weight 7 lbs vs 25 lbs) that I was tempted to replace it with a smaller projector but the cost/value/capabilities weren't there. After setting up the projector it was easy to adjust the lens, however, I still don't have the keystone set properly. The color and vividness of the projector was great. I would recommend purchasing a tuning DVD to get the colors and contrast optimized. I noticed a considerable improvement in picture quality after calibrating the unit. The cost of a DVD is minimal, at around $20, relative to the benefit. The DVDs I purchased were “Digital Video Essentials” and “Disney WOW” both are great at optimizing the projector. In fact, a calibration DVD should be provided by the Projector OEM. They also should provide printed Owners Manuals that would make the set-up much easier. I noticed my previous components all included printed Owners Manuals, the ones I purchased nowadays don't. Overall, I would definitely recommend this projector but make sure you have a steady mount.
This is the third projector I have had over the past 20 years. Each one was considered the best available in the mid price range for home theater use. We are still using the original Da-Lite 108" screen set 13' from the projector ceiling mount. The projector is in a dedicated room with 100% light control. Everyone who has seen the 4010 image from a satellite source or a streaming source has been very impressed. What a dramatic improvement over the years. The installation went smoothly with a few minor adjustments as suggested in an online review. Highly recommend this projector to anyone who can control ambient lighting.

Despite the projector's overall impressive performance, the lamp failed much earlier than anticipated, which was a disappointing setback. This premature failure necessitated the purchase of a replacement lamp, an endeavor that proved to be quite costly. It's worth noting that while the initial investment in the projector felt justified by its superior performance, the unexpected expense and inconvenience of replacing the lamp have somewhat tarnished the overall value proposition. Potential buyers should consider the long-term maintenance costs, including the high price of replacement lamps, when evaluating this projector. This consideration is crucial for those planning to use the projector extensively, as it may impact the total cost of ownership and the practicality of this investment for personal or professional use.
The Good: Excellent build quality, great brightness, great mounting with the Chief 4000. THE BAD: The HDCP 2.2 port wouldn't work right out of the box. Spent 2 weeks troubleshooting trying different HDMI cables and different streaming platforms. ZERO luck, if you are buying this for 4k, don't bother! Great image for 1080p, but this shouldn't be advertised as a 4k projector. Buy a newer model that has AT LEAST HDMI 2.0 ports, save yourself the headache. Returned mine and purchased an Epson LS11000 which is on the way now, fingers crossed things go smoother!
This is an expensive projector than the 3800. However, it has the older versions of hdmi port that don't even support a 4k Image. It can only support a 4k image with a 24 fps rate. However, all the modern 4k streaming devices like amazon firestick can stream at a minimum - 4k at 60Hz. You can't even use the HDR settings with this display resolution. I was excited about this but totally disappointed and going to return it asap
I bought this three months ago and it's already having MAJOR issues. It's burned through 3 different HDMI cables in our home theater setup and support has been no help at all (honestly tremendously rude and short with us). For the price, it's honestly extremely disappointing. After looking through Reddit, it turns out this projector is known for having issues with HDMI connectivity. Usually would understand, but the fact that Epson refuses to be of any help, I wouldn't buy again or recommend wasting your money on this brand. It's a clear (known) issue with the product and I want my money back!! Strongly suggest looking elsewhere if looking to buy a projector like this. Epson might be on the downward trajectory.
