Very, very well made. I had bought a plastic one and it never stayed tight. This one is awesome & accurate. Highly recommended.
On the package: Pickett 401N drawing instrument made in Germany. UPC 014173156235. On the item: curiously, nothing. No number, brand identifier or any marks of any kind. Length w/tips 6-/12 inches. Legs are 7/16 wide, 5/16 thick. Plastic housing is 1" diameter, 1/2" thick. Plastic adjusting wheel is 5/8" diameter. This is a solid compass with stout metal legs. The combination of a tight head spring and tight threads on the adjusting wheel means it will hold whatever setting you give it. That does however make the adjustments slightly difficult; a child or someone with finger strength issues might find the adjustment wheel hard to turn. It appears that the manufacturer of this device likely sells it to others for marketing as the unit itself bears no mention of its maker. 4 stars because the plastic head tip on mine came bent indicating some quality control issues at the factory. It will be an annoyance but not a fatal flaw. Overall recommended for the price and general construction.
