We actually use a 500M which is no longer available but it is a great machine and now working to purchase a second one (the 600) which I expect will be just as good if not better. The shred and forget with security option is excellent.<br /><br />Our office is about 14 people and the 500M has worked flawlessly in the first year.
The 500X works perfectly for what our office needed.
This product works as advertised. It shreds 500 sheets of paper quickly without my having to feed the shredder by hand. Jamming occurs when you mix different sizes of paper, paper and light card stock or checks in the auto mode. The users manual needs better pictures to show how to use this product. One improvement would be to create a bag for this shredder that does not tear so easily when removing and emptying the shredded paper. This is a great product!
This shredder works great for extended lengths of time. Load 600 sheets on auto and walk away. For best results, paper needs to be neat and aligned. Minimal staples, but will shred the lighter gauges easily. This will dull your cutter blades more quickly, no surprises there. Using common sense helps in effective shredding. It's not a garbage disposal nor a disintegrator. Sizes of paper under 8x11 may have to be fed manually. Uniform stacks of under 8x11 do auto feed as long as the roller mouth and paper overlap. As per the manual unopened mail must be fed by hand as well as folded paper that doesn't exceed capacity. It will accept some card stock, one at a time via non auto feed.
Cannot handle paper clips. Paper jams often and waste compartment fills up way too quickly. The wire basket to hold the plastic bag has many points that results in holes in the bag.
This machine will stop if it encounters a business card, envelope, etc. Not useful for a business.
