Although Nicorette is more expensive then other generatic brands the quality and flavor of Nicorette is far superior and worth the extra cost. Although it has been over ten years since I stopped smoking, I still find that I sometime rely on Nicorette to satistfy the urge to smoke.
I was a heavy smoker until the age of 51. My dear Mother died of lung cancer, as I held her in my arms. I vowed to quit smoking. A week later, on November 11, 2004, my husband bought me some Nicorette gum. I quit smoking that day. It took me 2 years using Nicorette. I will be celebrating 10 years as a non-smoker this November 11, 2014. I am now healthier than I have ever been in my adult life. I just want to say:Thanks Nicorette for giving me back my life!" I stopped quitting October 30, 2011. I used Nicorette Fresh (2mg) mint gum quite frequently for the first few weeks and was instantly relieved of my intense cravings. When the cravings were really bad I would chew one piece after another until I was relieved. I gradually was able to only chew the gum during situations that triggered serious cravings. Now, over a year later, I chew about one piece every two weeks and have been smoke free.
I used Nicorette in conjuction with Chantix and was able to quit in less than a week. I was smoking two packs a day for 30 years. Since quitting I find I am hardly ever winded and my sense of taste is much better. I prefer the fruit gum over the other two flavors.
I had tried to quit smoking many times and failed. I gave Nicorette a shot and am happy I did. It helped with the desires and stopped the cravings completely. After almost 50 years of smoking, I am now SMOKE FREE....THANK YOU NICORETTE.
I love the flavor and overall tasting. The gum is great at controlling craving on cigarette (nicotine) especially during the time I can't smoke and need to focus at work. I am in the process of quitting smoking and have cut back almost entirely . My trigger is work! The stress often has me craving a smoke.(I'm a closet work smoker). Instead of smoking and based on a recommendation, I decided to try nicorrette white mint 4 mg. To be honest I wasn't expecting much. My previous memories of this product involve my step dad using it frequently. I hated the weird & obvious smell. Ick it was gross! Clearly the gum has been reformulated. First I tried chewing it around my husband and he asked for a piece of gum! Then of course, I told him what it was and asked if he noticed the weird scent. He just thought it was mint gum. It passed my test! I was ready to test it at work. The gum has a coating & a nice strong refreshing mint taste. At this point, it eliminates my cravings quite quickly. I think it's time to move to the 2mg dosage. Let's talk packaging - I understand there are strict requirements around the disclaimers and design. It is easy to shop for and identify your flavor and dosage. However, as a closet almost done smoker, I don't want to carry the package & market my vice to the world. I wish you could remove branding & associated stigma to use this easier. I take the blister pack out of the package but it still is fairly obvious. Nicorette please make it easier to use your product on the down low. This is my reasoning for 4 of 5 stars. I would absolutely recommend this product as a tool to help you quit smoking. I tried Nicorette gum a few years ago, but not necessarily to quit smoking. I was trying it out more for craving control while "cutting back". I bought both the fruit flavor and the mint flavor, but was turned off by the taste and the weird burning feeling it left in my throat. I'm happy I decided to give the gum a second chance and try the Nicorette White Ice Mint recently! The flavor and texture seem much improved from my previous experiences and the flavor lasted for a long time. I also actually read the instructions this go around and learned to chew for a few seconds and then park the gum between my cheek and gums, and repeat this multiple times in different areas of my mouth. Doing that helped me not feel like I needed to cough or vomit from the tingly/burning sensation since it keeps those symptoms at a minimum. I still notice that unpleasant feeling, but it's definitely not as bad. Overall, I have felt this gum has reduced my cravings and cut the number of cigarettes I smoke daily by half, but I haven't completely kicked the habit yet. Maybe after a few more boxes of Nicorette.
