I purchased this calculator because I had the same one before. It was getting very old and the number 8 and 0 were hard to determine which was which. I purchased a new one and am very pleased with it.
This is the perfect product for my home bookkeeping business. Gets the job done with no complaints. Really like the print/no print feature. Instructions can be sketchy at times, but I most likely won't use most of those features anyway. Bottom line, I like it, and the price was right.
I have always preferred Sharp, the location of buttons and options, spacing makes it easy to run numbers without hitting 2 @ a time!
It works well and is exactly what I was looking for to replace my Texas Instruments adding machine that I had to retire. The keys are well-spaced, and arranged just the way they should be. The digital readout and the printed tape are both easy to read. The tape is easy to load. Overall, it's a great product for the money.
I am still learning the "touch" of this calculator, but really like it. The lighted total is especially helpful for older eyes. It's making tax preparation easier.
The calculator is what I needed and received a week earlier than expected
The ROLL of paper is so small it's ridiculous...Be sure to order rolls of paper for this machine or you won't get very far. Also the ink is so light I can barely see the printout!! Did not give an extra ink cartridge. I had several of these calculators over the years and this one is inferior...It is so light compared to my old one...I also do not like the fact that the electric cord was changed...I hate having yet another extra cord that is loose and not connected...The is more than double what I paid for my last one...SHARP EL-1801V used to be the best calculator for home use...VERY DISAPPOINTED...Nothing you buy these days is the same quality it used to be!
Price and delivery were very good. Unfortunately, your website is in error for this item. I was looking for a calculator that was battery operated. Your website indicated that this was both battery and AC. It isn't. It is just AC.. I am displeased. I could return it but decided to keep it. I should have checked the manufacturers site as you you should have.
Read the manual, added the paper roll, plugged it in, and got all the settings where I wanted. After the first few transactions entered, it started making a loud whirring noise that won't stop until I unplug it. Tried removing, reinserting the paper roll, removing the ink cartridge, but nothing stops the noise. I have never had a calculator that I can't keep plugged in between uses. It works, but the noise is loud and distracting.
Calculator operated great for three weeks. Then drive motor for printer keeps running. Followed minimum directions to try to get it to stop - no luck. This EL1801V is a replacement for a EL1801V that I had for a very long time. I thought I was buying a like unit but new unit does not have "reset". Cheaper than original. What happened to Sharp quality?
