After a brutal chemo regimen, my diabetic husband needed to regain about 50 lbs. This product gave him the extra calories without the unwanted sugar or carbs. It is virtually tasteless and mixes well in liquids. If you are looking for a "recovery item" to add weight, I encourage you to give this a try.
Great product....I mix it in about any food and liquid you can think of. I bought it for my grand daughter who is wheel chair bound .
This is a wonderful supplement for people on chemo who have little to no appetite. Mixes into just about anything without altering the taste
I am caring for a critically ill cancer patient and this product was recommended by his care nurse. It allows me to add calories and protein to his small meals while not significantly changing the taste or texture of the food. I highly recommend.
Benecalorie Concentrated - is very hard to find in the store. My mother is 82 and needs to gain weight, we have tried all the varieties of drinks: Boost, Ensure, etc. and she doesn't like them. I have started making her my own shakes with Greek yogurt for protein, fresh fruit and then I add the Benecalorie. It's tasteless and adds 350 calories as well as 7grams of protein and most importantly, she likes them and will drink them. It would be great if they could carry this in all the stores. I had to buy the 24 pack - which is fine but occasionally I find the 8 pack in the stores.
Benecal is as described and works well as nutritional supplement. The product does need to be mixed or shaken as it definitely separates into two layers when stored. I have used it in soups, stews, beverages, and pancake batter successfully. Benecal will change the texture and color of foods. It is very obvious in clear liquids. It does tend to separate out in hot liquids, although you can use it to make a sort of roux by mixing it with flour and cooking it. I've had good luck mixing it into liquids with an immersion type (stick) blender. It is neutral in taste.
The texture is a bit milky and chalky. It's difficult to mix with hot foods. Mixes well with milk, milkshakes, or other creamy foods.
I bought this product for my 84 year old Mom to help her gain weight after surgery. Once mixed up, I add it to anything liquid. It's best in cold drinks like milk, shakes, carnation instant breakfast, and juices. I also add it to soups but it makes the soup thicker and a little greasy. But it is helping her gain weight.
It is an ok product. It is doing its job but the price is outrageous or how much you get. Wish there was a cheaper in store option instead of this on line only option.
was very excited too try this product thought what an easy way to get the xtra calories that I needed, the firsty couple times I got sooooooooo sick it was just too greasy when I mixed it with oats. but still trying so I mix it with a half can of boost an ice cream sometimes add a banana in their put in drink mixer "great shake" plus a lot of calories plus vitamins etc.. the downfall to it all is I always feel so overloaded.. still trying though.
