I HAVE AN OVER-WEIGHT TEN YEAR OLD BOSTON TERRIER AND I TRIED THIS PRODUCT AND WE ARE ON THE SECOND BAG AND SHE HAS ALREADY LOST FIVE POUNDS!!! SHE WAS WEIGHING TWENTY-SIX lbs AND LAST VET CHECK-UP SHE WAS TWENTY-ONE lbs AND MORE ENERGY AND READY TO PLAY. I HEARTILY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!!
I have a Jack Russell mix named Booker who is 11 years old now. He looks super young and is pretty healthy! As of recently though, when I give him solid foods, he avoids it or it takes him several hours to eat just a little bit. Anyway, when I received NUTRO, it came in an easy to use bag that closed properly for freshness. But the true miracle is that my dog actually ate his whole bowl at once. The food was super small so he could actually chew it and he seem satisified as well considering he wasn't begging for our food. I switched my two mini schnauzers and Maltese to this food after they were gaining too much weight. They love the taste and I love it because it's so good for them. The only drawback is that it only comes in small bags. I wish this was offered in a much larger size as I'm buying for three dogs. I buy a few bags at a time, however it would be very beneficial if you offered a larger bag. Other than that... Keep up the great work! We will only feed NUTRO.
Maggie Mae, my 8 year-old Yorkie, which is actually my youngest daughter, loves NATURAL CHOICE Small Breed. As a result, Maggies Papa (yours truly) loves it too. We switched over to this great product four-plus years ago, and she has maintained her 10 pounds ever since. If it's any help, Maggie enjoys one-half cup, twice daily.
This is the only food I can feed my special needs dog, now its discontinued. Regular nitro just has way too many calories for him. I desperately need help to feed him.
My dog was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 2-3 weeks to live because she wouldn't eat. I was able To get her to eat only people food but I often worry she isn't getting enough nutrition necessary for dogs. As soon as the bag made the slightest noise my K9 daughter knew something yummy was inside this orange and tan bag! At fist sight, the food inside was small round shaped pellets with a neutral smell. My dog was intrigued. I gave the recommended serving to her, and without breath she dove into her dinner. She seemed very happy, and did finish her portion with ease. My only reason for not giving this 5 stars would be this is not grain free food, and we prefer to keep our dog's diet grain free. I would recommend this product. If you are looking for a reasonably priced dog food, with quality whole-food ingredients, and aren't worried about feeding your dog grains, this is a great option, especially if you prefer to do all of your shopping at one place! The Nutro Wholesome Essentials small breed dog food is better than most of the pet food that you can get at the local big box store, but if you want grain free for whatever reason, this is not the food for you. The package was easy to open once I saw the white writing on the orange background that mentioned the easy-pour and reseal aspect of the bag. I only found that after I had cut the top of the bag open. I wish that had been better labeled, so I wasn't stuck wasting time taping the top of the bag back together so I could reseal it after dispensing, but I digress. My dog who will eat anything was willing to sample it a couple of times, but the other dog wanted nothing to do with it, turning his nose up at it and wandering off. But even though my dogs won't eat it, I still have this whole bag of foodt, so I tried to find other uses for it. I live on a farm, so I offered it to the other carnivorous critters. My quail didn't have an interest in it at all, even crushed, but the mealworms seemed to be positively delighted with the additional protein and nutrient source! I'll be using the rest of the bag over the coming year, to add extra nutrition to the mealworms, which I will then feed to the quail so that I can get a ton of healthy, tasty eggs! If I find a stray, they'll probably get this food too, until I can find their owners. Overall, I'm giving this dog food a solid three for the quality of ingredients and easy to read nutritional and ingredient labels on the bag. It doesn't get any more stars than that because my dogs probably wouldn't eat it as a regular meal or a treat unless they were super hungry. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I really wanted my dog to like this food - she's so picky so anytime i try something new, i hope "this is it".. but this wasn't the case with Nutro Wholesome Essentials. I tried it several times, slowly mixing it in with her current food - even added chicken broth to it a few times and she didn't go near it. The colors on the packaging is nice - the sealable package is a good idea, but the bag is pretty tall so its kind of awkward to use the pourable feature. To be fair, my dog is extremely picky when it comes to dry dog food and gets bored very easily so i wasn't surprised that she didn't particularly care for this one.
