I am not sure how good this would be for fish, but for turtles and terrariums it is excellent. In low water conditions the pumps cleans thoroughly. Great value and performance.
It's working perfectly... Prior to this one I had the smaller filter (the 2-5 gallon one) However my fish are getting bigger and producing more waste..my tank is only 3 gallons and at first I thought this may have been too much filtration because even though it is advertised as a 2-10 gallon filter, the box says 5-10 gallons...I tried it anyway because I could tell my fish were getting ammonia poisoning because the smaller filter just wasn't cutting it.. Lo and Behold my fish are thriving and their water is cleaner than ever!!!! I have 3 smedium goldfish.
I have several fish tanks (from 10 gallons to 135 gallons) and by far this filter (of any size) works wonders on keeping my tanks clean. I even had someone ask if I had just cleaned the tanks because they looked so clean.
This Tetra Power Filter is a great choice for someone that needs a filter for a small aquarium or betta bowl. It has a good water flow rated and is small and compact. The filter pad is easy to replace. It is also very quiet.
So easy to install, even a video on their website to help. Very quiet, runs well. The current is a little strong for my little Betta fish but she does quite well anyway.(the 2-10 gal) I have a 2 gal. tank. The unit itself works very well.
I use it in my small five gallon aquarium. It's quiet (good for me), and it has a gentle flow (good for fish). What I like best however, are the filter replacements. Easy to find and reasonably priced.
I got this for my fiddler crab tank and its in about one and a half gallons of water that is less than 3 inches deep. Its really quiet and its just what I needed.
I have 3 of these pumps in our 3gal. Betta tanks. In the kids rooms and on my desk. They do the job, but needed some 'adjusting'. The current was too disturbing for our Bettas. I cut the air tube in two spots and added a back flow valve and a regulating valve (a splitter so you can hook up an air stone or something like that.) I opened the second outlet a bit to let some air from the pump just blow out, and it made the current a lot more suitable for our Bettas! The filters have been running for about 3 years now, and only one broke. The rubber membrane inside the air pump ripped. The vibration can be a bit noisy, so I attached the air pump to a stuffed animal with rubber bands :o) Works fine, looks cute! The water stays clean for a long time and replacing the filter pads takes only seconds. I will switch to an external nano filter but not because of the filters performance! Our tanks are six sided and they look just too bulky in there! Oh, the lid keeps falling off, but is not really needed anyways!
Considering this is advertised as being a 2-10 gallon filter, I have to give this a low review for the sole reason that it's misleading; I've ordered this twice under the premise that it should be able to fit a 2 gallon tank. Both times I received the 5-10 gallon filter. The first time I figured it must be a mistake, so I returned it and reordered hoping that the next time I'd recieve what I ACTUALLY ordered. But I did not. I got the same filter again. Which leads me to believe that this is not listed properly. Even on my receipt, both times, it said it was the 2-10 gallon filter, and yet both times I recieved a 5 gallon one. That being said, if you're buying for a 5-10 gallon tank this doesn't really affect you. However if you're buying for a smaller one, this sadly is not the filter you're looking for.
do not buy for fiah tank it is the worse filter system and does not work on a 2 gal or 4 gal tank. i have perfect clean healthy water and my tank had been cloudy the filter aystem dont filter and i dont get more then a few days out if it i never had a problem with any tabks til this filter and has killed tobs of fiah and had to replace fish multiple times and clean out tank. u aslo have to have the water way below the water flo or it will not work as well. pics below show in the new tank ive had for a week and never had pribelms with any other tabks or filter systems until this one. buying a new filter sutsme and this says 1-4 on filter system not 2-4
