I bought it to use with two Mississippi Map Turtles. Since i have owned it, the water has not gone below 78 Degrees Fahrenheit and it's in a 30 gallon tank. It automatically shuts on and off as needed. It's safe enough to have the turtles climb on it and not hurt them. Great product for the price, I found the same thing at Petco and it was fifteen dollars more.
I bought this a month and a half ago to acommpony my full size one (that ones on the friz and only turns on 1/2 the time but its like ten years old) It works really well and keeps my tank nice and warm ^^ I like how easey it is to just look at it and see its working too.
This heater is the perfect size for my 10 gallon fish tank. I have had it in my tank for about 2 weeks now. It has kept the water at an consistent temperature of 78 degrees. When the water drops below temperature, the heater kicks in and heats the water until the temp gets to 78 then shuts off. It does not take up hardly any space in my tank. I keep it in the back corner next to the filter. I have tetras and my betta in this tank.
Decent heater. I would say that it's perfect for a 20 gallon tank. But do remember it's only good for the price it came with. It does take quite some time to adjust to the required tropical fish tank temperature. If you want better results I suggest you get a cheap adjuster but be careful.
I purchased this item about a week ago and I am very happy at this time. Price was very reasonable although online price was a little less than in store price. Item directions make very easy to install.Actually had enough money to buy extra fish food.My fish and I are very pleased.
i bought 1 of these for a lidless 10gallon tank and it keeps it at a steady 78. i bought one for a 30 gallon tank and it also keeps it at a nice 78 as well (though the bigger tank sometimes dips to 76 before the heater comes on). was worth the 15$ i paid for both. best bet to get it to work well i found, is keep the heater near the bottom of the tank. setting it horizontal keeps the heat even for the big tanks too
Do NOT buy this water heater! This is my second one. The first one died and luckily I caught it soon enough because it caused the water temp to plummet, but the second one overheated in the middle of the night. Woke up this morning with all my fish dead and the water was at 100 degrees F. Extremely upset at this, especially because all of the decor in the tank was moved around, meaning the fish suffered. Go with a higher quality heater and avoid this one unless you want dead fish.
I bought this heater to keep the tank warm for my new baby red earred slider turtle. He is in a 10 gallon tank. I came home from work to find my water at over 100 degrees F. The heater never shut off. My turtle is barely alive after being cooked in the hot water and I don't know if he will survive. This is the second time I have bought one of these heaters and both times the water temperature spiked to dangerous levels, the first time it spiked to 90. After the first time I thought maybe just that one was defective. But I will never buy this product again and risk one of my animals' lives.
Heating element doesnt work. It says to 78 degrees, the tank water never reached above 70 degrees killed my fish that requires 74-78 degrees
Purchased 9 months ago, stopped working now. I need to mail it for repair/replacement which would cost me almost same price as the unit. So going to buy a different heater
