All right everyone say hello to my little friend. :-) please allow me to start by saying I am not a fan of using chemicals at all. Heck even my garden is 100% organic I raise my own chickens and hunt a lot of my own food. However sometimes even poison can be a good thing if used wisely and carefully. For quite some time now I have battled Green Spot algae to no avail because even in healthy tanks with bright lighting you're going to get green spot algae on leaves no matter how healthy your plants may be. But for me the real problem started about a month ago when I had a lot going on and so did my wife. We had a brief failure to communicate and she thought I was forgetting to feed my fish LOL. I am not saying anything is her fault at all. But the fish ended up being fed double time everyday for about a week meaning that I was feeding them their usual amount which is slightly too much and my wife was feeding them her usual amount which is a very caring healthy motherly dose of too much. And boom that was a recipe for disaster. In no time I had pea soup for water even though my aquarium is heavily planted and I have a filter big enough for a tank twice its size and a powerful water polisher there was nothing I could do to remedy the green water algae. I was even doing three 75 percent water changes a week to no avail. Then I started seeing hair algae Black Beard algae the Green Spot algae got out of control and the brown algae went crazy. It got so bad that I was to the point of nearly hanging up my hat. I did a lot of research and refused the idea of chemicals. Then the other night I did what I should I have done in the beginning I listened to my wife. We were in Walmart and she pointed this stuff out to me. The main reason I was so scared to use this chemical was the fact that algae is in fact a plant at its lowest form. So it made no sense to me how a chemical could kill one plant while sparing another. I took the chance and still skeptical I dosed my aquarium with half the recommended amount. I then took my seat in front of the Aquarium and watched the white filter pad on my water polisher turn hunter green within 5 minutes. I took the filter out gave it a good wash replaced it and sat back down to see my aquarium turn crystal clear Within 30 minutes. Now completely astonished I approached my wife saying well honey you were right and of course I got the mmm hmmm I told you so bit. LOL then I gave her a big kiss saying well I'm very glad you did. I have held back on Advertising for this product until today because I wanted to make sure none of my plants or fish were affected. And as I had hoped nothing went wrong at all. That is at least with my 20 gallon tank. In my betta tank it caused an ammonia Spike. I believe this is because I used the full recommended dose and the betta tank is very small. It says on the instructions on the bottle and on the website that this should not be used in newly set-up tanks. This is because not only does it kill algae but it can harm the beneficial bacteria in the filter system. So really I should say use it at your own risk and be sure that you do not have any snails or crustaceans including invertebrates in your aquarium. Because it says on their site it will kill them deader than a doornail. with the first dose. I also wouldn't recommend using it at full strength seeing as a half of a dose was like a tactical Warhead for my problem. But this stuff is no joke it decimated all of the Green Spot algae and destroyed the green water algae and it is taking its time on the black beard but it is melting it away and the brown algae threw in the towel the first day. I apologize for being long-winded but I am quite ecstatic about the results of using this product. So thank you for your time and I wish you all the luck and Fortune you can possibly have. :-)
I bought this product yesterday an used it for the first time. An perfect clear water for the first time in months. Changed water over an over but still would return. Used this once an presto. Looks great.
My tank developed serious water cloudiness after a routine gravel vacuuming that I had done a million times before without triggering an algae bloom. As the bloom worsened, I tried less light, more/less water changes, new filters and a handful of products claiming to address blooms. For me, nothing made even a slight difference. One day I tried a small bottle of Tetra AlgaeControl hiding on the store shelf. A long story short, within minutes my tank literally went from a green cloud where I couldn’t see through to the back of the tank, to a perfectly clear environment. Magic in a bottle. I’m posting a review because the internet is filled with suggestions that didn’t work for me and I tried them all. I’m hoping to help others with a viable answer.
I have been struggling with algae in my tank for a few months despite several 75% water changes. I randomly happened across this product and yesterday I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did!! My tank is clear and my fish are happy!
I bought this for my 30 gallon fish aquarium. when I say my tank water was a bad green it was a dark green and you couldn't see through the tank! I cleaned and cleaned to get rid of the algae bloom but that wasn't working. So, I purchased this and treated my tank. The next day my entire tank was soo much clearer than before. I did have to treat it twice to get it fully clear. But I love the product! Great experience!
This is slowly helping our algae problem. Some of the reviews claimed almost instantaneous results. They probably didn't read the directions and added too much to the water. One drop per gallon of water is what is recommended. that's what we used and after a couple of weeks, we are seeing an improvement.
The first time I used this product it killed one of my fish. I wasn't sure about it until I used it a second time and it killed three more of them. It took years to grow my oscars to lose the to this product.
it did not work
This product did not work. The tank turned dark green after using this product. I was disappointed having to empty the tank abd start all over; luckily none of the aquatic life died.
My story with this product: bored lady buys 60gal tank. One day discovers a golf ball sized spot of algae in the corner. Immediately goes to buy algae control additive (said product) and long handled scrub brush. Add anti-algae additive. My once clear, beautiful tank EXPLODES with algae growth!! The walls turn disgusting greens and browns regardless of my efforts to scrub them. Algae grows on gravel, air hoses, it consumes my filter, heaters and plants. I buy snails to keep up with the growth, but theres only so much 2 tiny snails in a 60gal OSCAR tank can do!! Seems futile to fight the green slime. Dramatic story short. I wish I had never EVER bought this. I handled my tank just fine before adding this. Now I either need more snails or to drain and scrub everything in my tank. Thank you... so much.
