After review of limited installation instructions my wife and I finally got the cover on. We have two Diamond Back hybrid bikes mounted behind our Jeep on a Thule two bike hauler. I did not think the 3-bike unit was even going to fit. We finally got the unit over the bikes and in place. Hint, start at the top and then stretch down over the front and back tires. This cover really fits tight. The most frustration was stretching and hold the elastic elastic ends of the zipper flap together while getting the zipper in place. Once in place we nearly gave up before we got the zipper to zip. Now, we shall see how the cover performs on a 600 mile trip. Seems like a good product but a real pain to get it on the bikes. Great product, quality is good, once I figured out how to get it over my two bikes on a tray mount rack on the back of my RV, product fit great and preformed as it should. I had the cover over my bikes on a 2000 mile trip. I would reccomend the manufacturer installing two or more loops around the bottom for added security. I did not use the rope provided, I used a couple of bungee straps. I would reccomend Classic provide more and/or better instructions to both the consumer and their customer service people. The only options I was given was to return the product to Classic or the store where I purchased the cover for a full refund. a you tube video would be excellent. Advice, take your time and be patient. Takes about 5 minutes to install less time to take off.
The cover is designed to fit over a couple of bikes on a trailer hitch rack where the bikes hang from the rack. We have a different type of rack where the bikes are on a support structure. We also have mtn bikes, not road bikes. It was tight, but we managed to close the cover around the bikes as shown in the instructions. We recommend that if you use the cover you not use it per the instructions with the zipper facing the vehicle. It is much easier to fasten it with the zipper facing out and the rope tie loops also facing out.
The cover was a real bugger to get over both our bikes. I just hope after a couple uses we don't decide it's too much trouble to bother with.
1st - no way does it cover 3 full size bikes, 2 at the most. I used the cover twice in Texas my bikes were on a thule rack on the back of my jeep. My 3rd trip using the cover - the cover was on 1/2 way to Arizona and 2 of the 4 plastic windows ripped. I was bummed - I liked the cover!!
I used it for the first time this weekend (feb. 14, 2015) at a temperature around 0 F. It didn't protec my bike right from winter road salt. It puts a lot of stress on my bike rack frame and anchoring points/hardware because it highly increases the coefficient of drag of the bike at ~ 60 m/h vehicle speed. The clear areas for vehicle tail lights to be seen through didn't fit right with the tail light positions on my vehicle and if they were, they would put so much shade on them that it would be unsafe to beleive that the driver behind you wiil properly see your tail light when braking and/or indicating your directions (I had to install a set of extra tail lights. At the end of the ride, the clear areas material was cracked here and there probably because of not intended for cold weather use.
The instruction says that the cover can be used with rear hitch mount, bike racks and tracks. There is no way to properly install the cover if you have tracks holding your bikes. The problem is that the 4 wheels need to be secure to the racks using straps. Once the straps are installed there is no way to slide the cover under the wheels for proper installation of the cover. The second issue is with the cheap transparent plastic showing part of the wheels. If you have bike support legs you will most likely rip it if you are not very careful as it happen to me. Why not use the same grey material for the entire cover? I'm very disappointed with this product.
