I got what I wanted and on time. great seller
Great product,instructions hard to understand
I installed this in a 1993 Jeep to replace the original IR system that had long since stopped working. I had a copy of the shop manual with wiring diagrams, so I could see where I needed to attach the wires and how to get access. The instructions were very clear, but I wired the system to a breadboard with LED's in place of the relays to confirm it would do what I wanted it to do before I started tearing into the dash. It worked as it claimed and installation went pretty smoothly. I decided to solder the wire connections. I have not had good experience with crimped or other mechanical connectors, and I only wanted to do this once. I installed the wiring in stages - first to confirm the door open/close function was working as I wanted. I next added the courtesy light and ignition tie-in. I did not hook up the horn - I'm sure it would work, but I didn't want the extra noise. The flashing lights are easy to see to confirm [from a distance] that the signal was received. When I finished, I had a working system that has features the old system never had - like turning on the courtesy lights [for 30 seconds] when you unlock the doors. It also locks the doors automatically when you turn on the ignition and unlocks them when you shut off the ignition. I have not tested to see how far away I can get from the Jeep and have it still work, but it works at about 150 feet easily. Overall, its a good project if you have the wiring information for you car and can connect the wires needed to make it work. Jeep_Fixer
I had this installed by a professional because it was cheaper to buy from Walmart and have someone else install it. It works great.
I installed this system along with an MES power door lock kit on my pickup, after owning it for years without any power options. The keyless entry feature has brought my old truck into the modern age. Other features that the unit provides are parking light flash (when arming), automatic door locking after drive away (time delay). Also available (but I chose not to connect) are starter kill and the horn honking when armed/panic feature. The unit also includes dome light supervision which triggers the dome light after disarming to aid in the safe entry to your vehicle at night. The bottom line is this a high quality, feature rich keyless entry system that has been sold by installation shops for several years. The kit is not beginner DIY friendly, but if you are the type of person who likes to do their research before tackling a project, you'll be able to find the information you need to install this in your vehicle on the internet. My advice is take your time and study the wiring harness and your own vehicle's specific wiring scheme. Some dismantling of the interior of your car will be necessary, especially under the dash where most of the wiring needs to be done. Use quality wiring connectors (T-taps) or better yet, solder your wiring splices. Make sure you pick a reliable chassis ground for the unit and don't forget to add an inline fuse to the power lead for added protection against short circuits. Good luck, and enjoy this upgrade to your vehicle. This is a great product at an awesome price.
the system works good so far. the instructions were very vague. they kept stating to have it installed by one of their dealers. i'm an a. s. e. certified mechanic, and with decent instructions, i would have installed the system in short order. as it was it took me a lot longer!
I have an Avital keyless entry system. The loop on the keyfob broke (where the keyring attaches), and it is impossible to get Directed (who does Avital "customer support") on the phone or get a response by email. I have waited on the phone for hours and they never answer - just music. I have sent emails - no response. All I need is the housing for the transmitter - not the transmitter itself. But it appears that the only way to do that is to buy a whole new transmitter for $80. I didn't even have to do that with a factory installed Lexus system! You'd be better off going to a firm with actual customer service.
If your a trained electrician and have a lot of experience installing remote keyless. Maybe you can install this product.
if your not familiar with installing this type of thing have it donr for you or pass on buying it
