I bought this kit to install an after market stereo in my 1993 Pontiac Trans Sport Van. I have to say, it was a very good experience with this kit. The mount came with many parts for different vehicles, however for my particular van, I didn't have to do anything but place it in the opening left by the stock radio, using the 4 bolts and nuts included with the kit. It was quite surprising, how easy this kit worked out, I would recommend this kit to anyone with the same vehicle as I have, however, seems to be pretty complete with lots of adapters for some other model vehicles, so, I feel fairly sure it will work for the other vehicles listed on the package. Good product.. Very Pleased...
the item perfect on a 2002 Chevy Silverado
Everything you need in one box to install today's radio's in older vehicles. Just have to read through instructions to find your cars particular fitment. Instructions are easy to understand too.
Perfect fit. One thing I notices is that after you put the stereo in, the bracket only holds it from the front. So all the back weight of the stereo brings the back down the lifts the front face a little up. What I did to fix this was get 2 of the smaller brackets included and glued them as support under the stereo fixed to the actual bracket about 1 inch from the front. So when I put in the stereo it now also rests on the 2 supports I glued to the bracket.. Maybe I didn't have to do this but I did it anyways. I'm not saying your situation will be the same, but my stereo was a little heavy on the back side.
Didn't use radio had everything I needed
Sturdy enough kit, but that doesn't do me any good if it doesn't fit the vehicle. I purchased this for a 1989 Chevy Suburban. Following the instructuons for an 89 Suburban, the radio and mounting kit slides right into the front of the dash and then falls right out of the back of the dash. The bracket is smaller than the hole and does not provide any way for it to mount to the dash. Bummer. First picture shows the radio in the bracket. So far, so good. The second picture shows the mounting holes in the dash and the complete lack of anything on the bracket to attach it to the dash mounts. And if I tap the front of the radio, it will fall straight through the dash and onto the gas pedal. I'm going to play eith the other mounting hardware that came with it and see if I can figure out something on my own. If I can't, this is just a useless piece of plastic.
This kit contained very confusing instructions, lots of confusing brackets that were useless, and for my 94 Astro van told me to modify stock mounting brackets in a way that made them totally useless. I couldn't figure out which brackets worked, as the brackets themselves aren't labeled to let you identify them from included pictures, and the pictures show generic-shaped brackets vs. ones shaped like the included parts. They didn't even label the included screws/nuts properly for a novice/random guy swapping his radio, and I ended up paying an audio shop $40 to make sense of the mess. It even took them an hour to figure out/put in, and I overheard the two installers working at the shop complaining about how worthless these "universal" kits are. Unless you have the simplest dashboard ever made, I'd only buy this because it's way cheaper than what an audio shop would charge for a bracket; if you have little time/patience, plan on not even opening it and just finding a pro shop to just charge labor for an install.
states will fit a 2005 pont grand am, Well if fits but the trim will not fit over the radio, Had to cut the bolt on mounts off to get it to fit, These kits should be taken off the market, The directions are useless. You have to be a rocket scientest to follow the useless directions, States to cut off centain parts for certain vehicles, NOW for the wiring harness that is supposed to work on grand ams another joke i had to snip all my wires off and wire it to the radio, It was night mare, But got it to work ok, Had to get on line to identify all the speaker wires etc, NEVER again!!!!!
The online add says it's for an older vehicle. When I receive it shows from an 82 and up so did not even come close to fitting without chopping half of my council
Needs to be more specific for applications.
