Looked around for a Wiring Kit on the Usual Web Sights and Web Auctions. Found Bad Reviews on most saying the wire was not the correct gauge or that they were copper colored aluminum wires. Not the Case with the Scosche 680W 8 Gauge kit. This Kit comes with the Proper Size wires needed. The Main Red Power Wire has the Built in 50 Amp Fuse holder with the Fuse included, plus there are Crimp Ends and even Zip Ties to bundle your wiring together. Although I didn't have the needed Speaker Outputs on my OEM Radio, the Wiring included was easily used by cutting off the ends and Soldering directly to the Car Wire Harness. If you are going to install a Amp or Subwoofer in your Car, Folks Please, Please Don't use House Hold Wire Nuts. They are NOT Designed for Vibration areas as in a Car. Use Crimp Connectors or Solder the Wires ! This Kit is Highly Recommended by me.
Scosche is the best brand of wiring i have ever used for car audio. Has always met my expectations and is pure quality. I would never go with anything cheaper like Boss. Not that companies like that are bad, but if you want something that will last, dont spend the lesser on it. It is a huge component of any car sound system. If you get lower quality wires, it could damage your system over time. If one is willing to invest in a great system with great amps and great speakers, don't sell out on the cheap brands that say they work and last. always go with top quality. Or you will end up spending more replacing your main components. Scosche FTW!!!
This is a great quality kit if you use it for what it was designed for - a single 680W or less amp. Don't complain if you use it with more powerful amps. I have this kit wired to my 400w sub amp and it performs great! If you're running more power than 680w or plan to upgrade, buy a kit that can handle the power. This kit performs great for me and you want find a better kit for the price. I highly recommend this product for 680W or less amps.
So first off, I bought the 6G version of this item. I have it running a single 600W sub off a SSL f2.600 amp. I've been using it for 2 weeks and haven't had any problems. In looking for a 'budget' wiring harness I came across a lot of reviews saying most wires seemed to be a smaller gauge than advertised but as far as I can tell all the products fit the descriptions. The RCA cables did SEEM a little flimsy but I haven't noticed any sound quality problems or interference. This was my first time having subs in a car and my frist installing an amp in a car (it took 70 minutes total). I was worried at first, but I couldn't be happier with this product. And since I spent $38 instead of $108 I can buy all the rubber stoppers I need to keep my trunk from rattling.
This is far better than any other kit I've seen. I got one online that was a few bucks cheaper with the same specs. The wires on it were copper-clad aluminum, which aren't nearly as good, and the insulation was thicker, so the wire was more like 10 gauge. This is exactly what it says it is (pure copper 8 gauge wire) The fuse holder is a big ugly thing, especially compared to the some others I've seen but it's easy to hide, so that's no big deal. I installed in a midsize sedan and I had about a foot of extra wire for the RCA/remote wires, even though the amp is as far from the dash as it's possible to get. My battery is in the trunk right next to the amp, so I can't say whether or not the power wire would be long enough to run in larger cars.
I purchased this wiring kit to install an amp & sub and everything worked out great!
Like the title says, the amp power wire is the real stuff for an awesome price. The fuse box is pretty is the best of any cheap kit and is very solid. All the other parts in the kit are great, but I did not use the rca cable included since it doesn't feel very insulated. Would buy this kit again and recommend to a friend. Amp I use on it is a sound stream 640.d 5 channel amp.
First off, the power wire is true to gauge (8 AWG), actually a little over-sized, and pure copper. Many cheap kits cut costs by using smaller gauge wire in larger insulation (ex: 4 AWG that is actually 8 AWG in 4 AWG insulation) and/or using CCA, copper clad aluminum. Aluminum has almost twice the resistance of copper, so an equal gauge aluminum wire will allow less electricity to pass than copper. So good on Scosche for not cheaping out on the most important part, the power cable. They did, however, cheap out on the fuse holder, mine had a contact that was out of place and barely made contact with the fuse, and the remote wire is a little thin, although it doesn't matter much. The RCA cable seems to be of okay quality, the terminals are fine and the zip ties are a nice touch. Overall a decent kit at a good price. PS I ended up cutting up the power wire when I got a 4 ch amp, now I have a 4 AWG cable feeding a distribution block with the 8 AWG going to my sub and 4 ch amp.
The kit itself is good, except for the connectors, they are horrid, i suggest buying some different ones, but the kit is still worth buying.
Decided that after a year of owning this amp kit I thought it would be a good time to write a review. I was satisfied with the first one I bought for my girlfriends car, that I decided to buy one for my car. Seems to be a true 8 gauge kit. I've tried other amp kits that claim to be "8 gauge" but there seems to be more insulation than wire. It also looks like they use real copper which flows better and has less resistant than the cheaper "copper clad aluminum" amp kits out there. Less resistant means more power to your amp. The wires are flexible and are long enough to get the power to your amp. The connectors are easy to crimp for a clean install. If you know how to solder then i'd recommend doing that then just crimping the connectors on. Also it helps a lot to get a good solid connection for you ground wire. I use sand paper to get bare metal so there is a good connection. I would of rated it higher in value if it came with more zip ties.
