Great design, very cute! A million pieces to assemble, but had clear directions. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, a few wood pieces came warped. We did not leave the boxes in the sun and assembled within a few days of getting it. Our daughters and their friends love it! It feels pretty sturdy, except for the slide. I could see us needing to replace in a year.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this after much looking. The Grand girls love it! It's very attractive and has many features. We bought it with assembly, which was a great idea. They were here in a week and had it up in about 6 1/2 hrs. So glad I chose Backyard Discovery!
We are very pleased with the new swing set from Backyard Discovery. My son (6) and daughter (1) are LOVING IT!! Thank you for bringing some new found joy to our backyard. I love that I dont have to pack them in the car to take them to the park ;)
Overall, Great playset for a small back yard. You can leave out the Monkey bars for if you have less space. When assembling, just sort out all the pieces 1st, download the Built App and look through the assembly process to help sort out the pieces , that way you get a very clear idea of how things come together. DO NOT leave the wood laying out in the sun too long, the wood will warp, (some pieces were already warped in the box) Careful of splinters, had to go through many pieces and smooth out, specially the floor boards. You can even stain the wood, obviously do it before assembly. Took me a about 8 hours with a helper for full assembly.
I did a lot of online "looking" before deciding to purchase this playset. I read the reviews (even though many of them offered nightmare scenarios), but decided to go with this one, hoping I wouldn't have any missing boards, parts or damage. Once I received the notification to pick it up from the store (site to store service), I loaded the 2 boxes in my vehicle with the help of a store employee. (By the way, the boxes are approx. 2' x 8' each and weigh about 185lbs and 165lbs). I give you this information because I was unable to find it anywhere. Once home, I did an inventory of all the hardware and wood. To my surprise, everything was there! All the boards were in perfect condition, no splits and no cracks! I only had 2 boards that were missing the stamp label, but it was easy to figure out which ones they were. I suggest getting extremely organized before starting any assembly on this project. I placed all the boards in alphabetical order and this helps out a lot! Also, get a separate table to organize all the bags of nuts, bolts and screws you will have. I also suggest you have a good drill with several batteries charged up and ready to go. You will need patience and no timeline to get it done. The assembly directions are OK, but have a few discrepancies that just don't make sense or add up. If you have any mechanical know how at all, you will see this for yourself, but it's not bad, just follow the directions step by step and be patient. Even though the directions suggest it's a two person project, I did it alone and took my time. After all said and done, I'm happy with the purchase. It a came out great and the kids love it! See attached pictures.
layground is super fun. It was a project putting it together, but that was somewhat fun too. We are very intermediate builders but managed to do it without too many problems. Our ship time was very long (it took over a month from when we ordered to when it arrived) but that is the nature of things right now. The playground itself is sturdy, fun and great. I have 4 kids ages 3-11. The 11 year old is a little big but can still play on it. A few elements are very challenging for the 3 year old, but she loves it. A level surface is a must or it won't go together. We didn't realize until we put the playground together our backyard is not quite level and had to fix it in a few spots.
I'm not going to lie, this was a HUGE project. It took us three people over a span of 21 hours to put together. We had to pre-drill many holes. One must be very careful and ensure the orientation of the pieces are correct. We used alternate swings for my son. Once you insert and attach the ground steaks, it's extremely structurally sturdy. It will not budge. Despite all those hours spent building, it was worth it. We have a 4 year old son with Autism. Seeing his smile, and watching him run towards the swing set was worth it. Just need to seal the wood and we're good to go.
It shipped well, parts were laid out and accounted for and were all there. It is very sturdy and the grandchildren love it. It fits perfectly in the yard and is very attractive.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good swing set son loves it even added sand underneath the playhouse..intructions were easy even did a few things ahead of time so when it was ready to assemble completely i just brought the pieces where i wanted the swing set to be and screw together instead of doing it in an inconvienent place the hole time building it also gives u a few hrs per day instead of an intense day of hrs building and not bickering with ur partner how to do things lol..but id advise to print another instruction booklet out so ones by ur build site and one near ur hardware it works good when u have a good setup for no unnecessary walking around finding ur book they have a phone access instrutions but i preferred paper lil old school. Didnt get much extra hardware for spares and ran out of washers and wish the spikes for foundation support were longer or had more but when i added a piece of plywood underneath the playhouse for sand it adds some weight..some of the wood pices were cracked and had to re-drill holes to avoid worsen crack into the wood. Good overall playset for kids keeps my boy entertained for hours especially the playhouse..just make sure u coat it with a waterproof wood treatment
