As someone who recently got their septum done I was at work and one of the metal balls had fallen off of the original ring, and I bought these just for a ball and I can't say they work pretty well. Yes they're plastic, that just means you can't put them super tight or they break. But I've switched between several different colors of plastic balls and none have broken on me.
The little balls on the ends of the silver pairs both broke in half with in three days of wearing them. They were plastic.
The little balls broke as soon as I put them on all 4 of them. And the two little black ones don't fit into my nose.
