I was very excited to get the Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine, LX2763, there's a few things it has that I'm very pleased with. The first one is it has a automatic threader which is great for me because I don't see to well anymore and trying to thread it is annoying, number 2 is it has a automatic bobbin threader which is a real pain to get it to load right also. I really like that on the machine it self has the settings for the lengths and tension settings so at a glance you can see it. There are 2 built in cutters for the thread, I really like the DVD the step by step instructions help a lot since I have never sew a button hole, lol or even stitched a lot of the patterns they show, but when they show it to you on the DVD looks like I maybe able to do or try anyway. I am a beginner but this machine looks to be all I could need ti get started. Included with the brother sewing machine is, 4 bobbins,3 piece needle set,Twin needle,Oval screwdriver,Extra spool pin and a Darning plate. Looking forward to making dresses for my Granddaughters and maybe some Barbie clothes to. this is worth the money so if your looking for a sewing machine this is a great one.
Having completed several craft projects today using the Brother LX2763 sewing machine, I think this sewing machine would be more than adequate for the everyday sewing needs of the average person. While this machine is comparatively light weight, it feels very sturdy. Rubber feet on the bottom of the machine prevent it from sliding on the work table. This is a full featured sewing machine which can be operated at impressive speeds on long, straight seams. It is easy to select any one of the 27 different stitches which are conveniently illustrated on the front of the machine. Dials on the top of the machine make it easy to control the length, width, or tension of the selected stitch. The LED light is helpful and the built-in thread cutter is very convenient. The foot pedal control is pleasantly responsive. Six different sewing feet are included, along with several bobbins, and a comprehensive multi-language user manual. An instructional DVD with a 24-minute video is also included. I found it helpful to watch the video before reading the manual and operating the sewing machine. I appreciate the heavy duty box that this machine is packaged in. This box will be re-used indefinitely when storing the sewing machine. Nearly 40 years ago, my wife struggled with a sewing machine when attempting to make clothes for our 5-year old daughter. My assistance was often requested. Somehow I ended up making a lot of clothes for my daughter and evolved into making my own shirts for several years. Now in retirement, I expect to be assisting with various craft related sewing projects using the Brother LX2763.
I received this stitch sewing machine for free in exchange of an honest review. I order this machine too sew my son's jeans . At the moment it arrived I feel in love with it. It is a.very cute and very feminine looking sewing machine. It's white with purple design on it. To be honest for me it was a bit difficult to assemble, but it does come with a dvd to help you with that . After a few hours to get it right, I put it to the test. The first thing I checked if the sound when pressed on the pedal was to loud or annoying. To me it was good , not too loud like some i heard on the passed. The pedal is somewhat sensitive, so don't pressed on it to hard it will take off. It is a very good machine I had no problems sewing my son's jeans with it . It has for zippers too , in a zig sah motion. I think this Brother 27 sewing machine is for everyone, from beginners to professional. Everyone will find it very useful. It even has a decent price for the great job it does. Not only is it great looking and works great but it is very lightweight compared to other sewing machines. I recommend this.to every mother or just anyone who loves to sew. It comes well package, you won't have tl worried about breaking upon its arrival, this is a product you won't regret.
I always wanted to own a sewing machine of a modern type, i have always had an old timey one and i loved it, but when i had a chance to review a new one for Walmart, I was absolutely extremely excited and could not wait to get my hands on it! Now, I am not a professional seamstress, but I am also not a beginner, as i took classes in sewing back in a day, so having a sewing machine for me was always kinda of a hobby, plus i love to own one in case if I just have to fix anything that needs fixing. I was so thrilled to receive this Brother LX2763 sewing machine! First, I have noticed that it is not heavyweight, it's about 16 lbs in weight and it came well packed in box filled with styrofoam for extra protection. Also in the box I found a whole stack of manuals and paperwork for the product and also a warranty sheet, describing the simplicity of how to register the product online. I was very surprised to discover a whole bag full of goodies included in the package, such as 1 Buttonhole foot, 1 Zipper foot, 1 Darning plate,1 Button sewing foot, 3 - piece regular needle set, 1 double needle set, 1 Oval screwdriver, 1 Extra spool pin,1 Narrow hemmer foot, 1 Blind stitch foot, 1 Foot controller and a Zigzag foot which was already installed on the sewing machine and also 4 extra bobbins, one of which was already inside of the machine. I absolutely love the foot controller! Like i said, having had the old machine i was used to having a side stick, which i would have to keep on turning around in order to get any sewing done, foot pedal is AMAZING and is so much more convenient! Now, I can easily use both hands for working with material and it is so much better, faster and easier! Also with a foot pedal it is very easy to control the speed at which I am going, from slow to the highest possible, the cord for the foot pedal is about 6 feet in length and I think it is plenty enough to be able to work with it comfortably, but if it is not, an extra extension cord can be easily added for an extra length options! On the front of this sewing machine i found a storage container which can be easily removed in order to store all the necessary extra needles, bobbins, treads, etc. It is not very big in size, but i think it is plenty enough to fit in most of the necessary items! Also what i really enjoyed is watching an instructional DVD, which was included with the machine. DVD lasts for around 24 min and it is very helpful to my mind, as it covers everything from how to turn the machine on, thread the machine, change the needles, switch to a different type of a stitch to how to make the sewing experience better by loosening or tightening up the stitches for the best results. I do not think that this video is specifically for this model of the machine but do not stress out - everything in it is same exact as it is on the Brother LX2763! So yes, the video was very helpful and is very educating, especially for all the beginners! As far as the machine functions go, this machine has got 27 built in stitches, but all together it has got 63 stitch functions to choose from, which is absolutely amazing! Also it allows you to use bottom or the top drop-in bobbin, which is great(if you do not know how to use the top drop-in bobbin, the instructions are easily explained in the instructional DVD)! One feature of this product that I find to be extremely helpful is an automatic needle threader! YES!!! It is an absolute blessing and a huge plus, especially for older people, or for people with limited eyesight, or for anybody at all, because anybody who has ever tried to thread in the needle knows what a frustrating hassle it can be! I absolutely love this feature! No more trying to thread the needle, which just won't let you do it! With a pull of a special piece on the side, beside of the needle, you just align the treat to it and let it go, and there you are - with a perfectly threaded needle in no time at all!!! This product also has got an automatic bobbin winding system, which makes it very easy, fast and hassle free to fill all the bobbins, with any colors your heart desires! I personally think that this sewing machine is a simple machine, it is very easy to use and the amount of additional informational that can be found in paperwork and instructional DVD makes it even easier to use! Though this model is on the lightweight and a small side, don't let the size of it fool you! This little thing has got a very powerful motor, and it definitely shows it, as this machine can do around 800 stitches per minute! The sewing with this product is smooth and extremely pleasurable! For the convenience there is also an LED bulb installed right above the needle, which makes it a little easier to see and work with, but i also think though it does a pretty decent job, sometimes it is still necessary to rely on exterior lighting just to make sure that you are doing the stitching right and perfectly straight! :) I also love the option of being able to control the tension of the stitches to you liking or even for the best results of the stitching on different types of materials! The stitch quality of all the built in stitches is very good, especially to be right out of the box, it seems to be already perfectly aligned, there is no bunching or ripping of the thread while sewing, so yes, i did not have to align the tension at all! For all of you guys who are thinking and looking to purchase this machine and if you love to sew quilts as a hobby or do it professionally, this machine does it all, even for quilting! It has got free motion quilting feature which so cool! Just set this machine on free motion stitching, which is one of the 63 available stitches and it will go through your whole quilt, and while it's working on your quilt, you can take a break and drink a cup of tea or even take your dog for a walk, as this machine will do all the free motion stitching for you in no time, and will not require any of your help! I am absolutely in love with this machine, and for anybody who is thinking about whether it is good enough or not - IT ABSOLUTELY IS!!! Though it is supposed to be a sewing machine for the ''beginners'', it will do everything that any other more expensive machine will and then some, like for example a free motion stitching, which is not available even on more expensive types of sewing machines! This machine can be used by both, beginners and professionals. It is so easy to use, has got a great warranty, has got 63 stitches to choose from!!! And every one of those stitches come out perfect, perfect width(which by the way you can easily change with a turn of the knob), perfect tension, it runs so smooth and works with so fast with a help of its powerful motor! It is not too heavyweight, and it is only about may be a little longer than a foot in length. I LOVE IT!!! The only thing that i would love to have for it is a case, but for the price that this machine cost and all that it does, it is a great hard working little machine, but don't let its size fool you, as you will be amazed by how great this machine works!
The Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine LX2763 is perfect for beginner sewers with a full range of features and a light weight portable design. The Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine offers 27 stitches with 63 stitch functions, included are blind hem, decorative, and quilting stitches, and an automatic one-step buttonholer. Enjoy the versatility of the six included quick change presser feet. Buttonhole, zipper, button sewer, zig-zag, narrow hemmer and blind stitch feet. Plus the built in free arm allows you to sew hems on pants or shirt sleeves. Designed for ease of use the LX2763 comes with a built-in easy needle threader, jam resistant quick set top drop in bobbin with an automatic bobbin winding system. Getting started is easy with the included instructional dvd and quick start guide. When my husband and I took the Brother 27-stitch sewing machine out of the box, we were a bit overwhelmed seeing all the knobs, dials and settings. We thought "Maybe this is to much for a beginner". Then we decided to watch the instructional dvd. What a difference! It makes everything from winding the bobbin to to threading the needle to stitch length and pattern seem so much easier. The dvd goes over every aspect of the machine and how to use it, including maintenance and cleaning. The Brother 27 stitch sewing machine does it all. You just need to set it, guide the material and press the peddle.
I was considering buying a $500 machine as I was doing a lot of quilting. As the Brother LX2763 sewing machine became available to me I didn't think it would do anything as it is an inexpensive machine, but I was greatly surprised. I started with enveloping a quilt, sewing together batting and two layers of material. I put on walking foot and it handled sewing around the edge much better than my big machine. My big machine is a 45 year old Pfaff and would have fuzz from the batting build up in the working parts and I would have to help it keep the layers even. When I tried the Brother machine there was no fuzz build up, it feed the material through evenly, and didn't need any help. Now I will use this machine over my Pfaff for enveloping quilts. I put a decorative stitching around the edge of the quilt and had to learn not to help pull through the material, but just direct the material. Again I was very impressed. Next I used the Brother machine to piece together squares of cuddle cloth. I found three times, if I started too close to the edge, it sucked the material into the opening for the lower thread. If I started a small distance from the edge I didn't have any problem. To access the stretch stitches, the stitch length dial needs to be turned to “SS”. I had to slightly force the dial to go below “0” to get to the “SS”, but once there, it did a beautiful job on the additional types of stitches. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone. It is light weight and works great.
I have been sewing for 45 years and I have a college degree in Home Economics so I was a little skeptical when I took the machine out of the box. The first thing I noticed was it did not have a cover or case and it was so lightweight. Most of the parts appear to be plastic. The bobbins are plastic and the instructions caution against using any other type bobbin as it might damage the machine. However after using the machine, it has become a favorite for me. I am accustomed to sewing on a machine build in 1975 so most of the “fancy” stitches on my old machine require me to move knobs and levers while I sew. In order to give this machine a fair evaluation, I read the instructions and watched the instructional DVD that came with it. I had a little trouble getting the tension right because of the bobbin threading. The bobbin came already loaded with thread and in the machine so I didn't remove it when I started sewing. Evidently, the thread had slipped off one of the guides because when I took all the thread off the machine and started over, I got the tension correct. Loading thread on the bobbin is similar to other machines except I didn't need to disengage the presser foot (long-time sewers understand this). The bobbin function automatically disengages the presser foot. I had to play with the stitch widths and lengths to know how the numbers convert. For example, for 10 stitches per inch, I had to set the stitch dial on about 2 or 2.5. The button hole function is awesome. I dropped a button into the guide and it made a perfect sized button hole. Again, I played with the stitch width for the button hole to get the right stitch size, but the length of the button hole was perfect. Presser feet are changed with the flip of a switch and do not require screwing them on. I really liked the needle threader. I thought I would need a magnifying glass to see how to thread the needle, but the threader works perfectly. Another great feature is the thread cutter on the side of the machine. The blade is very sharp, but positioned safely. I found the machine to be quiet compared to other machines that are mostly metal. The task light is bright. I used dark brown fabric for my tests and I could see very well. This machine is perfect for any sewing needs. Beginners will find it easy to use and experienced sewers will enjoy ease and convenience of the features. The only additional thing I will do is purchase a travel case to put it in along with the electrical cord and foot controller. This is a great buy.
First off, I notice that the sewing machine itself, it not so super heavy like the older sewing machines I've used in the past, which is a very pleasant surprise. I also notice that there are a ton of booklets and instruction manuals that arrive with this machine, as well as an instructional DVD. I was unable to use the DVD at the moment as I'm having computer issues with my desktop pc which has the dvd player that my laptop doesn't have. Oh well, I'll check that out later I'm sure. But it's still nice to know that Brother went the 'extra mile" to include an instructional DVD on how to setup the machine for each type of stitching it allows, as well as how to use each of the included special presser feet and attachments for this machine. It probably also shows the extra presser feet that you can buy from them to allow you to do even more specialty things with this machine. Okay I have been sewing on with sewing machines since I was 12 (am now 60) and so you can see that I've been at it for quite a few years. I also started a custom fit lingerie company from my home, for the nurses that I worked with at a local hospital, for a number of years. I also sewed my own cathedral train, wedding dress as well as a few of the bridesmaid dresses for my own wedding. I've made swimsuits, formal wear, casual wear, comforters, quilts, doll clothes, you name it. So yeah, it could easily be said that I know my way around a sewing machine. I've got to say then, that I have pretty exacting standards that I expect a sewing machine to rise up to meet, before I will "rave" about that particular machine. Side note: I have always been very pleased in the past with many other Brother devices, not just sewing machines, so I was very hopeful that this machine would live up to the pleasant history I have had with other Brother products. All in all I have to say this machine has been put through some rough tests with me, and it has come out shining in all of them. It's almost like the machine was smiling at me, know it would be able to rise above whatever I tried to put it through without a hitch at all! I love the pretty purple decals on this machine too! I've had some very expensive sewing machines in the past, and I can't believe the low price on this machine! This hardy little machine does just about everything that my specialized expensive sewing machines did, without the super expensive price and intricate settings that you needed to use on those machines. This machine is ready willing and able to do whatever you need it to do, during a normal sewing project. Of course if you need a professional overlock stitch, you should buy the much more expensive overlock machine. But this little gem of a machine will give you a psuedo overlock stitch that I've used for years and it's held up every bit as well in repeated wear and washing/drying of those garments involved in those stitches. I really wish I hadn't held my nose up on the air so high during those years, and would have saved my money and bought a Brother sewing machine instead of paying through the nose for the other way more expensive sewing machines from a company in another country (not naming names here). Let's just say this is one heck of a machine. It does all the stitches that it shows on the front of the machine and also in the instruction books, without hesitating at all, does them with precision and beauty, and then goes right into the next stitch you want to use, with only a 1 minute switch over by turning a few knobs or using a different snap on presser foot. It's truly just as easy as that! And the written instructions, also includes pictures of just about everything it's referring to in each stitch setup section so those of you who are better with pictures to show the way instead of reading the text will find it easy to use as well. From beginner to seasoned sewing professional, I honestly feel that you would adore this machine! And with the insanely low price, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank :) I would recommend this machine to anyone without a minutes' hesitation! You won't be sorry you got it!
The Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine, LX2763 is a compact, light weight sewing machine that has a large amount of options for home use and even some advanced sewing accessories allowing you to do quite a lot. The machine is relatively user friendly, but you're going to need a few hours to learn the basics and experiment with all your options. The machine comes with an instructional dvd in various languages for a larger consumer base. I personally, had to go through it a few times as the instructions were not on this particular model, but one similar enough that you will get the gist of use. It also comes with a convenient quick start guide and other short cut materials with graphics showing the individual parts and their use as well as a dual language English/Spanish instruction manual. Lots of accessories and extra needles and bobbins. This machine is the 27 stitch model and has enough choices to make for some really great sewing. The only draw back is that it doesn't come with a cover or protective case. I suggest keeping the original box and plastic covers for storage or sew one to keep the machine dust free and protected. Also a lot of the accessories are plastic and look like they will break with heavy use, so keep that in mind. It comes with a convenient button hole attachment that is easy to install. The instructions on the dvd will walk you through the perfect button hole and button installation. The base has a detachable part making it great for sewing sleeves or pants. The machine is quiet when in use and has a very soft foot pedal making hands free use a breeze. I highly recommend this machine for it's ease of use, great accessories and extras as well as the light weight and compact size. It will do a lot and take up very little space.
The pretty Brother 27-Stitch Sewing Machine, LX2763 is basically a good machine for the value. This is perfect for someone just learning to sew, or for someone that just needs it for mending and the occasional sewing project. Someone that uses one heavily would probably want to spend more for a more rugged machine. There are some plastic parts that I don't like; the foot pedal and spool pins are plastic and seem like they could easily break if not treated properly, and the required bobbins are plastic. It states if you don't use that kind of bobbin you can damage the machine. I've got tons of bobbins already, all metal, so it looks like I'll need to purchase a lot of these plastic ones. When sewing, it is nice to have bobbins ready to go with different colors already on them. The manual says the removable flat bed attachment can be used for storing accessories, but it doesn't have a lid to hold things in. There are all the usual necessary accessories: 6 different feet, a darning plate, a twin needle, 3 pc. needle set, oval screw driver, 4 bobbins (plastic), an extra spool pin, an operation manual , and instructional DVD. The DVD is good for beginners or as a refresher for someone who hasn't sewn in a while. I do like the easy-to-use needle threader and the top drop-in bobbin with a thread cutter. The LED light illuminates the work area nicely. I made a pillow case and the machine sewed smoothly and had even stitches. I played around with the decorative stitches and they look really nice. For the most part, I really like the machine. It's gotten me in the mood to sew again!
