This is the best machine for basic sewing, mending, hemming. I use it all the time for quick repairs and it is so easy to use. I would highly recommend this to a first time sewer as it is so simple and fool proof. It will leave you wanting more Brothers in your life.
My Singer Stylist died after 35 years of use. The worm gears that fed the feed dogs wore out. I wanted a fully manual machine. Love this one. Does so much more than my other sewing machine and quieter. It has a variable stitch length and variable needle position. My old Singer had 3 needle positions. Right, left and center. I have used the auto button hole maker several times. Perfect button holes every time. I have sewn in zippers, made drapes, a quilt, curtains, many double sided chef's aprons, totes, a dress, hemmed pants and much more. It is a work horse of a machine. Sending a picture of one of the many zipperd cases that I made. This one is done in the tumbler block pattern. I have made zippered cases longer, wider, flat and round. This year, making a lot of Christmas ornaments. My wife collects teddy bears. I have to make up outfits for them. I find dresses easiest to come up with pattern for. But, have also made jackets and vests. Some have zippers and some have buttons. The auto needle threader is great too. Saves time. I like the clear bobin cover. Easy to see how much thread is left. Once you put the bobin in, you do not have to pull up a thread. It does that automatically when you start to sew. Easily portable too. I did buy a case for it and it fits great in my sewing machine cabinet that I already had. Dick
