I felt very comfortable with this machine from the outset of my using it. I found it to be easy to thread and it will sew through denim (2 layers) for hemming. I would recommend this machine to anyone sews and doesn't required computer driven skills.
Very nice sewing machine i have had no problems with it. It is just what I wanted. I highly recommend it.
Brother machines are awesome! I've never had anything else! This is my fifth one and bought as a gift for my granddaughter, who's learning to sew!
I recently have been getting back into sewing and haven't sewn anything in like 15 years.. I purchased it at the Black Friday Sale. It's awesome easy to setup and got me back sewing in now time.. Not a very loud machine and easy to control with the foot controls.
I bought this sewing machine as a second machine for the different stitches and the button hole feature. The Brother brand is a reliable sewing machine easy to use and the price was unbeatable. I sew almost every day and in my opinion I would recommend this to all my friends.
I love it the only thing that could and would make this better is if it told you the exact way to use the dials and recommended setting for all types of cloth and so on but again I love it once I figured it out and sow everything that I can find in site.
This machine is very easy to set up and use. It threads easy. It threads bobbin easy. It has simple stitch control . It has a full size foot pedal. It loads in front of machine, sideways but there's a fairly intuitive guide on the bobbin holder. Much easier to setup that most sewing machines I've noticed and no problems. Some of the parts and construction feels a bit cheap however, it doesn't have that weight that you'd want from a more expensive unit.
I got this machine as a starter machine to learn on. I took Home Ec. in high school and fiddled with other people's machines a few times in the past, so I wasn't an absolute beginner. This was a good machine for me to get and practice with while I decide whether I want to invest in a more expensive machine and keep up with the hobby. This model was pretty simple and straightforward to set up, and I was sewing within a few minutes of pulling it out of the box. There aren't a lot of frills, but this defiantly will be enough to start off with, plus I do believe that you can purchase additional accessories if you want to try something a bit fancier. I plan on ordering an overlock foot so that I can finish seams a bit neater, for example. My one gripe is probably a small one. With all the machines I've used before, there was some indication on or near the slide plate to guide your seam measurements. Either engraved on the plate itself or painted on the machine. This model has those lines, but does not indicate the measurement of each one. As someone who is just beginning, that would have been very helpful and time saving for me. I'm not sure if those measurements are the norm with machines, or if I've just been spoiled by always having a machine that included them. Seems kind of like something that should be standard, though.
I was so disappointed with my new machine when after sewing about an inch, it jammed up! After clearing the thread and making sure it was threaded correctly, I tried again. It jammed again and so quickly that it bent the needle! The bobbin mechanism was difficult to handle, and I had to lay the machine on its back to put it back in place. I have owned several sewing machines and have never gotten one that did not sew correctly on the first try.
I have had this sewing machine for a year now and have had nothing but problems with it. The thread keeps getting all bunched up in the bobbin area. No matter what I did or how much I cleaned it, I still had the same problem. My daughter has the same machine and hers dose the same thing. I knew I should have never bought this. I had a Singer that lasted for about 30 years with no problems. Guess I will go back to a Singer.
