NEW AT DUTCH OVEN COOKING , THIS LIFTER HOLD THE TOP FIRM SO THE FIRE AND OR ASHES DON'T FALL INTO YOUR FOOD WHEN LIFTING THE TOP OFF TO CHECK HOW YOUR FOOD IS DOING INSIDE.
This is a must have!! I have went through three pair of "heat proof" gloves and they have not performed to the extreme level of heat that the dutch oven generates.
Easy to use and sturdy. I would recommend this lifter.
I wish the pic was what the product is because I almost didn't order this. It actually has a rubber grip on it and is very nice.
Works like it should. One has control over the lid at all times. Well made and sturdy.
Keeps the lid very steady and secure. Reduces chances of coal ash in the food when checking on it.
The lid lifter does a good job for my medium size iron skillet lid. But it is expensive, and might be considered a little overkill for some people. A simpler lid lifer might be easier to store also. It does sit nicely on the skillet while you are cooking so that you don't have to find a place to set it aside while cooking. And it doesn't seem to heat up noticeably. It is a nice lid lifter. I bought it to give to a friend and did not want to spend that much money; but I am the one who uses it...
Not spring-loaded, but a great dutch oven lifter non the less.
Good lifter for the price. Three points of contact on lid makes for much better control when lifting vs the single 'hook' lifters. Less chance of ash falling in your food. Having a spring loaded handle would be nice but, for the price - works great. This is the shorter version lifter. Your hand is closer to the coals on a camp oven but is really not a problem.
Letter is over complicated and also (just like the tripod) did not come with instructions. I contacted the seller and they didn't know either - which is ridiculous. I found a assistance YouTube.
