There was no clear instruction pamphlet to adjust the outside temperature receptor. It appears to register temperature about ten degrees F above the actual outside temperature.
With a transmitting range of about 7 ft, I could just as well use a mechanical thermometer nailed to an outside wall. The only positive here is that I can return it to the Wal-mart store where I picked it up (hopefully!). That's why I ordered it from Wal-mart, so that I could take it back if it didn't work.
An outdoor station that is not waterproof is useless.
I am confident it is an accident; I use to buy online from Walmart and it never happened to have a defective product. It did, this time; I returned it with no difficulty.
This was a very handy unit for the first day I had it, but now the remote sensor constantly loses its link with the display module, and I only have them two feet apart. In order to get it to register the temp, I have to press reset on the display module (which clears the time, date, and alert settings), then open the remote sensor battery compartment and press the transmit button. Then it loses its connection again in a few minutes. This is very inconvenient, and it had been a waste of money.
