It's handle is very convenient & surprisingly strong. I wish I were made aware sooner that the handle also folds away, I'd have gotten it sooner.
Works with American maid bottle too. Just left this tiny tab and unscrew the locking mechanism. Use a knife to remove the rubber gasket under it and it seals on to American maid bottles. (Photo added for reference)
This DOES work on American Made water bottles, because I could only by the Primo exchanges and didnt want to spend the money on exchanging, I bought 5 gal and 3 gal American Made bottles off the shelf, you just have to gently remove the clear rubber seal in the bottom of the pump
I bought it less than a month ago. I am so happy with it. It was super easy to put together with the help of my 9 year old who was so into it. It makes life easier since we decided to help the environment by not buying plastic water bottles. I have bought so far three 5 gallon jug of primo water. I am satisfied. I pay for the first one full price and half for the refill jug.
Just what we needed, easy to install
It WORKS with the American Maid brand 5 gallon bottles sold on Walmart's website.. just like another reviewer suggested, all you need to do is REMOVE the RUBBER RING underneath by prying it out and then it will attach to the American Maid bottle (and probably others too). The product picture online showed a carrying handle but when I picked it up at the store, there was no handle included (possibly an outdated photo of the item?).. so minus 1 star for that. The quality seems good, I wanted a manual pump because I wanted it to last long and I don't trust the electric pumps. It seems like you have to get used to the way it pumps water, you need a pretty even and fast pump in order to get a good amount of water out of this, it reminds me of the old school well pumps they used to have back in the old days. I am a little upset I didn't get the carry handle, I didn't see it anywhere in the box.. but it's a good enough pump for the $9 I paid for it and I'm glad I'm saving money refilling the 5 gallon bottles at the grocery store which is cheaper than buying bottled water. They should sell it online as it was only available for pickup and Primo should also make it universal next time (although you can modify it like I did and it should work).
As other reviews have mentioned, if you're looking to use this pump with the 5 gallon American Maid bottles, you have to remove the clear ring that is in the collar of the pump. This will enable the mouth of the bottle to fit into the collar correctly and securely without the use of the adapter Primo provides. I am happy to have read the reviews prior to returning. The manufacturer should really consider including this detail in their manual. Overall good product and worth the value.
If you would like to know how to use the product please read. You can almost fully untwist the ring that goes over the bottle it will not break it was designed to do that you don't need to full force it on… I was trying to do that for 1 hour 😂. Yes you can twist it twice I think but don't untwist it too much make sure it fits then afterwards twist it tight and you are golden !!!
I just ran into the reviews that it can't fit, and it's true. However there is a solution I just discovered!!! Remove the clear inner seal under the pump, it's a ring, take t out gently with a fork. Then assemble two long tubes and you're in business. Unscrew the blue cap then screw on and it pumps out water!
Zero stars if it let me. This item was not as pictured. I received a knock off in horrible packaging and the seller basically ignored me. Item also took forever to ship which hardly matters when its not worth the postage they used to send it. Picture is after taping it up to return through Fedex since I can't take it back to a Walmart.
