I've had this for about 3 weeks and it's already trapped alot of dirt and dust on the carbon pre-filters. I like that it has 4 different speeds, and I really like the timer. I can set it to run from anywhere between 1 and 16 hours, then it shuts itself off. I feel like the air in my apartment is healthier now. It had a very stale odor when I moved in, and this unit has helped that alot.
It works great has helped my allergies a lot although it's not as quiet as I would like it to be but it not too bad. I've slept so much better since having this in my room!! We have 3 dogs and it's made a world of a difference. I highly recommend it!!
I bought one to put in our large bedroom, after constantly being awakened by stuffy nose and dry cough. The machine seems to remove all allergens in the air. We're sleeping much better and no stopped up noses. You can adjust the power from 1 - 4, with 4 being the loudest. We don't mind the white noise at all. Glad we bought it.
Might be a little early to review since I've only had this for about a week, but so far, very good! After one day I could definitely notice and feel a difference in the air in my large basement room. This unit seems to move a lot of air, enough that I don't feel bad at all for not getting the larger model. This unit might be loud for a small to medium sized room. It sounds like...a fan...and if it's on speeds 3 or 4 I have to either turn my TV up to hear it over the unit better or turn the fan speed down to 2 or 1. Again, this is in a large basement room. At night I like to have it run on the lowest speed as it works for some good white noise/background noise. I'm hoping that this unit reduces the amount of dust I see around the room. It gets bad rather quickly. I find myself dusting every 3 or 4 days so only time will tell if this unit helps reduce the dust or not. But either way the air feels cleaner already and feels so much better to breathe. I'm coughing less and feeling less irritated. Another thing I like is that this unit blows a pretty solid stream of air, so the air in my room is moving now and feels less stuffy. Noticeably cooler too which I like. I wouldn't say the build/materials/quality is cheap overall, but it looks and feels a little bit cheap to me, but then again, I'm picking about the things I buy. But it should be solid enough to last a long time if you are not dropping it or abusing it.
Have used this air purifier now for over 2 weeks, works exceptionally well in our rec room. Like being able to replace the pre-filters and HEPA filters. Replaced a unit with a "Permanent" filter that could not be cleaned (except vacuumed) and could not find a replacement for. Another nice feature of this unit is the fan is a squirrel cage type, which we use in our forced air for our computer servers. Squirrel cage fans move more air and have bearings on both sides of the air mover. Noise is minimal for the amount of air being moved through the unit. Ease of filter installation/replacement is simple and the cost of the replacement filters are reasonable. This unit is the best we have found so far, highly recommended!
I bought one of these because my two children have severe allergies. I thought I would try it out before purchasing more for the whole house. My daughter says that she noticed a difference almost immediately. We plan to purchase one for each room in the house.
I live in in 50+ yo house. I used to wake up nauseated, and my family exhibited chronic coughing. Within an hour, we discerned a marked decrease in respiratory distress.l Now, I have one in each bedroom, and in the family room. Noise? Certainly better than us all hacking non stop at night! BTW, don't let the HEPA filters clog! The carbon filters function quite well as "pre-filters," extending the main HEPA filters' life, and reducing the maintenance cost from $80 a month to $12!
Actually, this is my second - I bought the larger Holmes unit and liked it so much I bought a second. Electrostatic air cleaners don't get rid of the allergens - they just make them stick to the walls or fall to the floor. A HEPA unit (like the Holmes) catches allergens and removes them from circulation. The big pluses - large HEPA filter surface area, large air movement, and reasonable replacement filter prices. 2 adults, 2 dogs, 1 cat in a 14 x 20 living room. As soon as we close up the house for winter I would begin suffering headaches and swollen sinuses. I wanted to try an inexpensive (<$100) air filter system to see what the results would be. Tried this one because of the price and reviews. Noticed the difference immediately! The air is lighter and I don't swell up as soon as I enter the room. Haven't had it long enough to know about changing filters but even if I have to change them every day it's worth it!!:) It is loud on high but after the first few hours I turned it to low and not too loud. We removed the system from the room for a few days to do some work in the room. Noticed the difference right away. Putting it back today and can't wait!
This unit is powerful and easy to use. It seems to be collecting a lot of dust and particles in the reservoir like it is suppose to, so I am happy about that. The only downside is that one of the filters is supposed to be changed every 3 months or so and the other is 6 months. So far very happy with white noise it produces when on and power of the unit.
