I bought this purifier just over a month ago after experiencing really bad allergies from moving to a new region, and so far, my experience with this purifier has been great. I leave it on medium 24/7, which would be loud for sleeping, but fine for daytime activities. My husband complains a bit about the constant hum, but it's no worse than a room fan. So far, our allergies have been fine so far, but we'll see once I've made it through an entire calendar year and all of the seasons.

I bought this as a replacement for a similar product. It lasted so long, I had to have another. I have birds and they create their own dust with their dander. I have this placed beside my the cage of my "worst offender", a cockatoo. I made sure the air that comes out blows away from the bird. When he gets to flapping his wings, you can see the dander go right into the back of the air purifier. The first filter doesn't look like much but it does a great job. Have had this purifier a month or so now and the secondary filters show no sign of use at all. I vacuum the first filter once a week and it does great. I cannot speak for the ionizer part of the machine, as you can't run that around birds, it does something to their lungs - online articles told me this, no actual proof. The only con of this product is that is very noisy, but running on "1" is a very tolerable level. Also the delivery was in about 2 days, can't really beat that. I bought this to replace another one that lasted 5 plus years. I use it for allergies and also like the noise to sleep. The lowest setting is just the right amount of white noise and its refreshing the air in the bedroom. Comes with two filters already placed in the unit.

Bought this for a bedroom and it seems to do a good job keeping the air free of odors and allergy-causing particles. It does emit audible sounds on levels 2 and 3, but we quickly got used to the sound and it's now just white noise. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Does the job, like the speed settings, and the prefilter is a great feature since we have a shedding dog and dusty home. My daughter's allergies and respiratory problems are so much better than just vacuuming several times a week! Have been keeping it on 1 nonstop in the living room where the dog sleeps with great results! I have quite a few of all Holmes products. This one I recently purchased to test out. For a smaller room, works nicely, quiet on low speed. Keep in mind that this model blows towards the side. It is not the normal straight blowing air. All in all I like it. Looks good too, small footprint.
I've had this air purifier for about 8 years. It has lasted the test of time but there are somethings that I don't like about it. First it does not oscillate which I didn't read on the box when I bought it so granted it's my fault. But if you want a purifier that swivels then this is not the purifier for you. Second, it does have a lot of power but it is very loud. Definitely too loud to sleep with at night even if it's on the lowest setting. Lastly, the air does not blow straight out of the unit. When looking at the unit, all the air blows to the left. So you have to consider that when placing it in a spot because the air DOES NOT shoot straight out. All and all it does get the job done and too this day I do still use it in my living room and hallway.
We found the noise from this unit intollerable at low level...never even tried medium or high! Plus my daughter didn't notice a difference in air quality. Tried to ship back for refund, but shipping costs so high, not worth it...am trying to recoup a little from craigslist now. Unhappy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
