Bought these after there were so many hurricanes going through here in Florida a few years ago. The homes that are fairly newly built ones all use a similar screen that came with them except they do have 'pull in/out' tabs that make cleaning easier. However, read the instructions carefully and think and measure before you trim them down and they will work just fine. Was really really happy to find these stocked at Walmart and even bought a few extra kits to keep on hand.

Replacement screen kit works well.

Great at home screen frame kit. Had to build a replacement screen and this kit worked well. It comes with vinyl spline in the frame which was extremely difficult to remove. It wasn't able to really be reused so I'm not sure why it's included. Frame can be cut with a hax saw. Corner pieces slid together.

Works fine on a 30" x 30" window

Used with aluminium screen. Works fine. Under cut one piece and was able to cut the extra 1/8 inch off. Over cut another piece and was able to super glue the plastic corner connector to extend to the size desired. Would prefer the kit to have 5 rather 4 foot length to allow for coverage on two windows.

Some pros and cons

I purchased a home which had some screens but the frames were brittle and disintegrating due to their age. Some of the windows were lacking frames altogether. This pack comes with everything you will need to make the screen frame except a spline tool. I use the New Your Wire wood spline tool. I use these frames with heavy duty pet-resistant screen material. After you get the hang of making a new screen, the process is pretty easy. I have a some issues with this frame kit. First, the ends are very sharp and have a lot of metal fragments. Second, the frame pieces are taped together and the tape is very difficult to remove. Third, the frame material is very easy to bend. Once you bend it, the piece is no longer usable. Finally, I had some second story windows that I could not easily access with a ladder so I had to put the screen in from the inside. These frames will bend if you apply too much pressure. On the good side the frame is easy to cut to size and the spline seems to hold the screen in well. There are pull tabs you can install and I usually do. I replaced every screen in my house with new screen material and used these frames on the windows that were small enough. Just be sure you have exact dimensions before you start cutting. In my case I had several windows with no existing frames so it wasn't as easy as making a frame the same size as the one before. I've been through several severe storms with these frames in place and none of them have come out. This is the same kit sold at the big box store. I find that in central Florida there really isn't very much selection. This is all my local WalMart carries. Having said that, I am relatively happy with it. I wish the price point was a bit lower.

Not great but will work in a pinch

I would not recommend these screens. I put in some that cost two dollars more that worked really great. and I had so many windows to do I seen Walmart had them for much cheaper, so I purchased a whole stack of them. To my disappointment they were so cheapy and they kind of warp and the plastic end pieces do not fit as snug as others do. They do not hold the frame straight, they kind of twist. The little black things that you put in to pull the screen out are so cheapy almost fake. They are made out of a plastic thinner than a sour cream lid. The black stuff that you push down over the screen to hold it in place is hollow and plastic-ish. Other kits have soft solid rubber that seems will hold up better. These screens are truly temporary. If you do not have access to anything else and you need a screen then by all means they are not the worst, they do work and they will keep the critters out. It is just that you can get better for only an extra few dollars, and they will probably last years longer than these. One more thing, the screens because they warp they do not fit flush against the window and if you want to make them flush you have to shim them in otherwise you have gaps where the screen twists away and critters can infiltrate. Sadly I made two screens with these kits. Wish I could return them but I already cut the screen to put in them it would be a waste of money so I will keep the ones I built, but the rest are being returned. But don't hold back if you really need them because the do work, they could just be better is all.

I ordered two of these online at the same time that seemed to be from in store stock and got two variations of the product. One has better looking and fitting corner pieces. The pull tabs look a bit better made and have a hole in middle to aid in grip. The other set's corner pieces have an empty space in the middle it appears to save on plastic and look worse. The fit into the metal parts was looser making fitting of the screen a bit more tough. The pull tabs feel more flimsy and don't have a hole in the middle. I found that making sure the screen fits into the window is a good idea before putting on the screen material. I did not notice a lip on the window requiring me to take apart the screen to cut it down.

Pass on this kit unless you're a pro.

I found the kit to be ok except that the metal is too flimsy. Other replacement screen kits have heavier gauge aluminum. If you are a DIY person who doesn't do screens all of the time, you may (like me) have a problem getting the screen tautness exactly correct. Too loose and the screen looks bad. Too taught and the flimsy frame twists out of shape. I will not buy this kit again and will be searching for something better.

This screen frame is useless. I have built hundreds of screens over the years and this is the worst I have ever seen! The grooves where the spline goes is not wide enough or deep enough to put the spline in that holds the screen. I am using the standard size spline and it will not go into the frame. Never again will I buy this junk from Walmart! Go to a home improvement store to get what you need and save yourself the problems that I am having!

I would not recommend this kit. One problem I had is there no center support for the frame. So the frame bowed to the middle during assembly to the point of not being usable. I bought the screen repair tool Walmart had in stock and used it to roll the spline into the groove that holds the screening. I could not keep the screening from getting cut in the process of rolling in the spline.(seemed to be to tight) I tried a roll of fiberglass screening and then a roll of aluminum screening and had the same trouble with each. In short, I ended up with something that was not usable after spending about 28 dollars and a lot of time.
