Kidde Nighthawk AC Plug-in Operated Carbon Monoxide and Explosive Gas Alarm with Digital Display

Just what i was looking for to put in the basement. With a gas dryer and furnace there are several safety concerns. This monitor checks both for natural gas leaks entering and combusted gas leaks leaving the house. It would be nice if it detected smoke too but smoke detection is easier to come by elsewhere. Can't verify accuracy or effectiveness, it's kind of like a parachute in that way. You hope it's going to work when you need it. The unit lasts for 7 years before alarming to inform, with a code, that unit replacement is required. Not too expensive for the peace of mind it offers.

Only used for a week but so far happy with it

I don't have a sense of smell and was nervous if I had a gas leak I would not be able to tell, so was very happy to see they have a alarm that can pick up Carbon Monoxide and Gas. Price was very reasonable. So overall happy with purchase

Confusing at first but figured it out

The documentation on this isn't very good at explaining you can't just plug this in to an outlet without a back up battery installed. You can't run this with batteries only because it eats thru them in about 20 hrs. Once you figure those two things out it has been working like a champ without a peep.

So far, so good.

I've only had this for a couple of weeks and we haven't had any leaks of any kind, but I expect it to perform as it should. I really like the digital display. That makes it very easy to see what the reading is. I also like that it has the gas alarm on it too, since we have a gas furnace.

The first one exceeded its life by a year. So this one is good for 7 years. A good product . It serves its purpose. I trust it.

A Truly Great Value

A truly great value on these Kidde alarms for the many features they offer. We researched many brands, features, and prices before deciding to purchase these. We are replacing two of an older Kidde model w/o the gas alarm over 10 years old that were originally installed when we built our home. We will continue to buy from Wal-Mart locally and online.

One of the best!

This unit is probably the best I have seen for CO detection in the home. It meets all state guidelines and is a very good looking unit. I really like the corded plugin feature which allows you to place the unit in the proper area for best detection. The readout display is a nice feature! Very pleased.

The delivery took 10 days to arrive, not happy!

I've always used this Kidde Nighthawk AC Plug-in carbon monoxide and explosive gas alarm with digital display for the past 27 years and love its performance. It gives one a sense of peace and security throughout the day and night. The alarm is loud enough to wake up even the soundest sleeper.

Gas and Carbon Monoxide Dector

I have only had this product for a week. Like the fact it uses battery backup in case of power failure even thou I have back up generation. Unit is very easy to wall mount, the LED is highly visible. This unit was installed in my basement about 10 FT from my existing furnace, was purchased to monitor my new LP Furnace which is in the process of being installed. The monitor distance will be the same as the new furnace is being installed where the Oil Furnace was installed. This alarm system is also installed near an existing smoke alarm to cover any possible problems from my heating systems. Considering the fact that LP Fuel Line will be running the length of my basement to supply fuel for the new furnace along with the existing LP Gas Kitchen Stove and a new fireplace gas log insert I feel this will provide the required protection against any possible LP Gas leaks either in the new piping or furnace.

Good Product Decent Value

It is not the most attractive, however its designed for safety not beauty. The digital display is a great feature. The ability to detect Carbon Monoxide AND methane is ideal for a structure with both hazards. Loud audible siren! I have owned it only two weeks but so far no false alarms. I give it a thumbs up. I recommend it. Only four stars based on lack of aesthetic appeal and cost, but overall a 5!
