Installed this filter at our kitchen sink and it work's great. The water filter removed the sediment and after taste of the well water we have.
I just recently installed the US-EZ-1 under sink drinking water filter system. Comes mostly with everything you need (mostly). It is nice that Culigan made it so if you wanted to go up in filtration like the 3 or 4 filters later you can; so there was no need to purchase the more expensive set ups. My set up under the sink; all my copper piping is soldered so it is a little difficult to add in stuff or get rid of stuff if you are not a plumbing expert. To install this correctly and I believe that most new faucets have the compression/swivel fittings (3/8") you are going to need a special adapter that I found at Home Depot. Since the filter system uses a 1/4" OD plastic tubing, so the adapter for my set up needed to have a female 3/8" npt swivel connection to connect to my cold water shut off valve and then a 3/8" male compression fitting for my normal faucet cold water conn and then a 1/4" compression fitting for the 1/4" plastic tubing to the filter. you can find this adapter here http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202257761/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=048643927469&storeId=10051#.UIqbQ8W-igY or search for - Watts 3/8 in. x 3/8 in. x 1/4 in. Brass Compression Adapt-A-Valve So far no leaks and it works great, the EZ-1 filter gets rid of that nasty chlorine taste of town water, gives you a nice clean taste. Hopefully this system last a long time. Total installation took about 1 hour just because it is tough getting in under sinks (no space). You will need a knife to cut the tubing, a couple wrenches (one being channel locks, and the other being a monkey wrench or what have you), also a drill to mount the filter holder to the wall or cabinet.
Easy to install and good price. Can't say much on durability because I haven't owned it very long.
it was easy to install nice looking and water taste good would recommend to anyone
We bought this filter specifically remove the chlorine taste from our city water, and it does that wonderfully. The faucet is a nice chrome like finish, and it flows quite well. Installation requires some know how. If you dont have an extra hole in your sink to mount the faucet, you'll need a holesaw. 1.5" is standard hole size. If you have a stainless sink like me, get a bi-metal holesaw. To get water to your filter system, it comes with a threaded adapter that is supposed to be installed behind your cold water valve. This works great for people who have threaded pipes. I dont. My water valve is installed with a compression fitting. So I went to the hardware store and bought a new $14 water valve that has the additional outlet for the 1/4" water line. I just threw the provided adapter away. I would honestly recommend the new valve like that anyway, that way you can turn off the water supply to your filter system very easily, if you ever needed to. If you buy the new valve, dont forget to buy the little insert and compression ring for the 1/4" water line too! The hardest part of the install for me was removing the old compression ring. There are special tools out there to do it, but pliers and elbowgrease can do it. PS - We bought this to replace a faucet mounted filter system. It worked well, but the weight of it actually caused 2 faucets to start leaking at the base!
The filter system works as expected: It removes the sediment we sometimes have in our water here in Houston after heavy rains. In particular i like the option to upgrade to a higher filtration grade just by purchasing another replacement filter. BUT: The installation was a real mess! We have 1/4" pipes in all our sinks and this is very common in Texas with older homes. The filter system comes only with one adapter for 1/2" pipes, so i had to search through the plumbing department of my local HomeDepot. An adapter from 1/4" to 1/2" was available, but going back from 1/2" to 1/4" required three parts: 1/2" to 3/8", 3/8" to 1/4" and female to male - four additional connections which could cause leaks. It would be great if Culligan or WalMart would offer additional adapters for the other common pipe sizes, 1/4" and 3/8".
Great product and easy to install
this is my second one. i like it as you don't have to change the filter for an entire year. it is fairly simple to install, works fine, and i even like the dispensing lever. a fair value.
Our sink is a 4 hole model with a soap dispenser in one. Removed the Soap dispenser and put in the Faucet. The Quick connects on the Filter body worked fine. The 1/2" PT-M x 1/2" PT- F x 1/4" line "T" Plastic connector (Quick Connect) for the water connection leaked like Crazy on the 1/4 inch side fitting. Went to the hardware store and purchased a Brass "T" with the side being 1/4 inch Compression fittings. Cost about 8 dollars. The cheap Faucet is OK for now and the filtered water is great.
The directions are simple and easy to follow. Everything went great until one side of the supplied plastic connection fitting refused to thread. Thinking this would be an easy part to replace at home depot, I was sorely disappointed. Home depot couldn't even order anything that would be compatible. Very ddisappointed...but will be returning this for a more mainstream filter system.
