I like this caulk thingy. It's easy for me to use and easy to get them in different shapes too. It works for our old windows.
Never need more than 5-15 mins to seal a window! It's clean, easy, no tools required, and soooo much better than using a plastic sealing kit and making your place look like a construction zone! Oh, lest I forget GREAT VALUE!
This product is amazing. Frigid air has been blowing the decorative window on my front door. I didn't trust myself with regular caulk to seal each window. I figured it'd be a mess. Enter the 1/8" rope caulk. I cleaned the window surfaces well, made sure they were dry and this was very easy to apply. No mess ! I also felt air from the door peekhole %26 applied this around it. I bought the Socket Insulation too. I noticed the light switch by the door still had some fold air coming thru. So I removed the plate and put this caulk on the wall around the switch opening making sure it'd be under the plate edges. Using both sealed off the freezing air that was blowing in. My entryway is warmer now. Excellent products for someone with limited mobility.
I was careful to unroll the single strand of caulk that I needed off of the multi-stranded roll, so as not to stretch the strand. I then softened the strand I had unrolled with a blow dryer to make it a little more flexible and somewhat tacky. Then with my fingertips I gently pressed the strand into the crack along the bottom of the window frame where it meets the sill. With a bit more heat from the blow dryer I then used a thin wooden dowel (about the diameter of a pencil) and rolled it along the length of the caulk strand and got a nice even smooth finish. (See the pic) The off-white/ivory color of the caulk matched the color of my window frame and the painted sill really well. I am happy with the result.
I like it's removable but it's a rope of 5 teeny tiny thin ropes they expect u to tear apart. They are too small to stop even tiny gaps, stretch out to unusable thinness as you are trying to apply to a window and won't stick. Said screw it, rolled up the full thickness shoved it over draft! This finally stuck to window. Yay, no howling or whistling winds of winter!! I do like and trust this brand for years. I'm buying more now than I know this box doesn't go as far as it says. Got about 5-6' using all 5 strands rolled up, which is not that thick 👎
I bought 15 of these, which I am going to return, except for the one that I opened.. it looks so easy to do but it isn't. I wasn't able to keep the putty in the crevice that I needed it. It would keep coming out as I was rolling down. .. even after pressing in with my finger..
Awful, more like a putty than a caulk. Doesn't pull apart well at all. It rip's and stretches thin before you even get a few inches off. Doesn't stick to window sill
Awful product, tried putting on and kept falling apart couldn’t even put product up because it wouldn’t stick no matter how hard I pressed it on.
It was very difficult to peel back the ropes, the stick together sides and bottom. Then to get it to stick in door jam, also hard, and it stuck to my fingers, became unshapen, but it did the job. Looks bad, irregular, but it stopped the air leak. Next time I'll just buy the peel and stick foam weatherstripping, comes in many sizes.
it was shipped with a gallon of oil that was open inside the bag it ruined everything and got oil all over me I showed the lady who dropped off the package and she said yeah the oil's open sorry it said we'll make sure you reflect this in your whatever you do delivering!!!
