It went on easily. Instructions were very good. I would have liked more tape though. I think it would be ample it you made it a 2 person job too get it tight the first time. I haven't had time to see if it lowered my electric consumption.
The blanket was priced great and was easy to install. Because the water heater is in the garage, the blanket will help insulate the heater during freezing temps outside
whilst my hot water heater does retain hot water much longer now, to install the "blanket" made a huge mess. 🙄
product does not match the listed description, it clearly states that it will fit up to a 60 gallon water heater, I only have a 50 gallon water heater standard height, it does not even make it low enough to cover the bottom heating element. additionally there are no scraps to cut I showed in the installation guide to cover the top.
I purchased a hot water heater cover years ago and it was great, but not this time. No where online or on the package did I read that only one side was covered in plastic and the other side was EXPOSED insulation! There is no reason it should be exposed. I had gloves and a coat on and eyeglasses. My hands still hurt from the particles of fiberglass. And it was too thick to install all around the unit, so I have to take it back. Clearer instructions would have saved a lot of hassle. Not worth the money.
This is without a doubt the worst made insulation I have ever seen. Paper thin backing that tears with the lightst touch. Almost no binder resin or glue to hold the fibers together or to the backing. Just opening and unfolding the package got fiberglass all over me, and 1/4 of the insulation wound up on the ground. Dont by this product, and be very skeptical of anything else with the same brand name.
When I opened the blanket, all the insulation fell off onto the basement floor. It was impossible to use. I returned it and the second that was unopened that I bought for the tenants side.
Did not fit a 50 gal hot water heater, had to tug and pull to get it half way to fit, about a foot to short. Then they do not give you enough tape for the job. Not worth the money
Exposed fiberglass insulator that is so poor quality, there was more on floor than. Plus, all that dust getting inhaled by furnace. Bad idea, let alone my lungs. The tape doesn't hold. And, the wrap is too heavy to stay in place. All raw edges of fiberglass - dropping off everywhere, I would give negative zeros if I could.
I opened it up and saw particles of fiberglass flying everywhere. There was no way I was going to continue. I rolled it back up and threw it in the trash!
