Very attractive, easy to assemble. No surprise it's just as it looked in line.
We had wooden mail box post very much the same as the Rockport . We were given permission by our HOA to use this replacement only. I have now installed 5 as I have all the tools to make this a very easy install. We have 444 homes in our development and more and more are now ordering as they see the new ones installed. Much less maintenance than our old wooden ones.
Somewhat easy to put together, looks great. We have the nicest mailboxes in the neighborhood now.
Easy to put up. Very nice looking. Have had many compliments from neighbors. Remember to take your time putting up. Use a 4x4 post, ready mix concrete, use a post hole digger. Let sit overnight before assembly of your mailbox post on it. Read directions.
This is just what I wanted, it looks great.
I have installed 5 of these since approval by our HOA. My first one took about one hour and now even faster. Our old wooden posts were falling apart after only 3 years. The Rockport looks very much the same as our old one, but the plastic now prevents the sun and rain from ruining the good looks of this box. For us the installation is very easy as the 4x4 post is all ready in the ground. With the right tools installation goes really quick.
We were able to buy ours for about $151 from Wasmart which was $100 less than the same mailbox listed on other sites. This is an attractive, sturdy plastic post. You need to purchase mounting hardware and mailboxes separately. You also need to buy a 4"x4"x6 foot post to mount the plastic post on and need to dig a hole and anchor the wood post in cement. The most difficult part for us was attaching the mailbox to the newspaper box. We bought universal mounting boards made by Gibralter to do this. Your drill holes need to be precisely lined up. This was very tricky. Pleased with final result.
I just installed 2 dual clay box posts and it went great for one. But, the other one's 'shelf' pieces were quite warped and the gaps show against the post and the mounting screws couldn't correct it - it looks like sloppy work. See attached pix. Hope I can get replacements.
Hayneedle was great, and quite responsive, but anyone buying this cheap, plastic mailbox post should know that the required hardware to mount the mailbox is not included, that the hardware which is sent for mounting the newspaper boxes is incorrect, that the construction is super cheap plastic. Putting it up required two afternoons of cursing in the hot sun, punctuated by multiple trips to the hardware store.
