This log stacker holds up well. Buy fresh 2 x 4 lumber. You will need two 8' length for the ground and two more 8' cut in half (4' length) for the sides - Home Depot cuts for free. You can put this together in a minute or two. It'll hold a good 1/2 cord of wood. I put it on a tarp next to my back door in cold weather for easy carry of wood into the house. I used old lumber that may be a tiny bit warped and was a bit hard to wiggle into the stacker, so get fresh lumber and you should be fine.
Great for holding stacked wood, durable.
I purchased one set a couple of years ago to try them out, along with a couple of other versions of a similar concept. These are the simplest and most efficient devices for quickly putting together a firewood storage rack that I've found. No tools necessary... just 2 X 4s. We now have 12 sets of these, which allows us to store about 4 cords of wood. We heat entirely with wood and use these to store our firewood. One set will hold about 1 rick of wood. When we use up the wood, we can easily take the rack apart and go on to the next one. When we cut more wood, we can easily set up additional storage as needed. Works very well for our purpose.
Modified with more bracing but overall excellent product. Works good.
Pretty good unit. some of the 2 by 4s had to much wobble in them. Had to go through 8 pieces to find a good fit. I do like how strong they are and would recommend them to friends.
I used pressure treated 2x4's for the base and regular 2x4 studs for the side posts (before they rot away, I can always burn them, besides they are cheaper than PT wood). The base pieces were too thick for the stacker and had to be planed down. The side posts were a little too small for the stacker and rattle around but stay upright for the most part. Nonetheless, they are easy to set-up and seem to work as advertised.
I was meaning to use a log stacker for outdoor use but when I received the package, I was dismayed to see that it was constructed of plastic. I immediately returned it and purchased a metal one from another vendor.
In the specs, the material is stated as metal. I received plastic ones. Had to return them.
They look good in the picture. I was disappointed to find out they are made of PLASTIC. Didn't think they would hold up to several hundred pounds of wood on a cold winter day. And didn't want to spend the money to find out.
