Petticoat Junction - The Official First and Second Seasons

The small farming community of Hooterville provided the setting for this highly successful rural situation comedy. Kate Bradley was the widowed owner of the only transient housing in town, the Shady Rest Hotel. Helping her run the hotel were her three beautiful daughters, Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Betty Jo. Also assisting was the girls' lazy Uncle Joe, who had assumed the title of manager. In addition to her involvement with the hotel, the romantic lives of her daughters, and her association with the townspeople, Kate was constantly at odds with Homer Bedlow, vice-president of the C.F. & W. Railroad. Homer was determined to close down the steam-driven branch of the railroad that ran through Hooterville, scrap its lone engine (the Cannonball), and put its two engineers (Charlie Pratt and Floyd Smoot) out of jobs. Presented in Black & White.

I Would Give it More Than Five Stars if I Could

I'd never seen the first two seasons before I bought this collection. It was a real treat to view these rarely seen B&W episodes. As far as I know every show is included in the DVD's and uncut...except maybe in show commercials if they had them. And yes the real theme song can be heard at the beginning and end of every show. Also included are commentary and interviews from Linda Henning and Pat Woodell, old PJ commercials for Ivory Soap and Tide, and picture galleries. I'm looking forward to the entire series to become available in the future. :)

This is a great 2 season set and for only $20 it's a steal! I love the hilarity of it. I think there's about 66 episodes total, maybe more. Plus on the first season there's an interview with Paul Henning (the creator of The Beverly Hillbillies,Green Acres, and of course, Petticoat Junctions). Also on the first season are original sponsor spots (very interesting) and both seasons include interviews with Linda Kaye Henning (Betty Jo) and Pat Woodell (Bobbi Jo), and every episode has an introduction option with one or both of those ladies. So if you're wondering whether or not you should buy this, here's your answer: Definitely! I'm 17, and if I like it anybody will. By the way the rest of my family just love it as well. Anytime there's nothing good on tv, they're always like,"Put in some Petticoat Junction". That's cause it's just that good.

Almost perfect

Great copies of a wonderful classic sitcom. Two little problems kept thid from being absolutely perfect. I don't blame Linda Laye Henning or Pat Woodell sice it was back in the 60's when these shows were made. There should have been someone like Stu Shostak to check the intros that Linda and Pat made for accuracy. Pat twice referred to Crabwell Cornrts as Crabtree Corners and Linda said her standin had to replace her in an episode when she had mononucleosis, but evidently that scene was cut without Linda's knowledge because I watched the episode twice and yje chatacter of Betty Jo is not even referred to in this episode lrt slonr nr on camera. Outside of these two items...PERFECTION!!!
