Great guitar. Action was high when I got it but once I had it lowered it plays great now. Was surprised at the sound quality for being a thin body. It didn't sound as good with the stock strings but once I put on a pair of elixir phospher bronze strings it completely changed the sound quality of the guitar. I do not have an acoustic amp so I can't say how it sounds pluged in. Would definitely recommend
Waited 3 years and pleased with the purchase. All I've had to do is tune it. No set up required, none. I've been playing for over 50 years and being on a fixed income I had to be sure I wasn't wasting money. Kona is honest and I am grateful.
Excellent quality at a low price.
Great guitar,very happy with purchase!
Was a little disappointed when I first got it because it wouldn't play the F note on the 1st string. It played an F# on the first two frets. Used the enclosed allen wrench to adjust the neck and took care of that little problem. Next, changed the strings as soon as I could with Martin Extra Lights. That made all the difference in the world to the playability. I love this guitar! Worth a Lot more than it costs. Sounds great, looks good, easy to play, and at a decent price. What more could you ask for? If anything happened to it, I'd definitely get another one. Would have given it 5 stars for meets expectations except for having to adjust the neck when I first got it. An easy fix but quality control should have caught it.
this is a very good starter guitar for the price. here is what I done: I put on a set of light strings , rest the neck relief , and lowered the strings by replacing the bridge and saddle pic up with some I already had ( kept the ones that came on the guitar) ,also smoothed up the fret on the bottom of the neck because the felt like a cheese grater ,( I work on guitars any way) now it is much more playable and enjoyable, IF I HAD IT TO BUY OVER ,,I WOULD ,SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD THROU AN ACUSTIC AMP AND NOT BAD THROUGH A REGULAR AMP , I mean rose wood fret board, mahogany sides and back ,thin,,best of both worlds
Didn't think it was that great when I first got it. you do need to change the strings... almost took it back... but i have had it a while now, and I am going to keep it
Needed work on the action, it was very high. Once I shaved the bridge, adjusted the truss rod and changed the tuners it turned out to be a quite nice guitar.
Nice guitar but needs to be setup better.
I really like this guitar. It is easy to play and sounds good. The intonation is great all along the neck. The string action is near perfect (Checked it with a Fritz Ruler). The strings are nice (D'Addario EXP Coated Phosphor Bronze). There are a few issues though. The first is that the cover for the electronic controls had fallen off and was banging around inside the guitar body before I opened it. The second is that there are a few blemishes on the finish. The worst one is on the bottom of the neck. These are overall minor issues though. They don't affect the way it plays, and I wanted this guitar to use when I want to play outside anyway. I think I'll keep it. It's better than some of the guitars that I've played in the past that cost a lot more. For the money, I would encourage others to try it out. Oh yeah, the electronics work well and sound great also. If I were buying this as a gift for someone, I would probably send it back for a replacement due to those issues. I looked at it closer and the finish is coming off the bottom of the neck. Oh well, you get what you pay for.
