I purchased this cooler because I was on vacation last year and saw many families pulling their cooler to the pool/beach rather than carrying it. So this year, I was able to take advantage of this popular item. The cooler is durable and well made. The zippers are heavy duty it keeps the contents cold. It has a top compartment for sandwiches or smaller items and a large compartment that can hold cans and food. We were able to easily fit 8-10 cans, an icepack and food with no problem. The cooler has a retractable handle and wheels so it can be pulled rather than carried. So what happens when you need to go to the beach instead of the pool? Fold down the retractable handle and use the backpack straps to put it on your back and carry it, allowing your hands to be used to carry other items like children or beach gear. About the only negative thing I have to say about this cooler is that it came with no instructions. Now, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out, but what they don't tell you is that if you don't properly tuck in the backpack straps before you use it as a rolling cooler, the straps will get tangled up in the wheels. In my case, my brother had it tangled up pretty good within the first 10 feet of leaving our condo. It ripped up one of the adjustable straps that are part of the backpack straps used to carry it on your back. If it just had a label that said "hey, make sure you ensure that the straps are tucked in with the velcro flap on the bottom before using it as rolling cooler", it would be perfect. It was not enough to damage the cooler beyond use, but it was upsetting as the item was unnessarily damaged on the first use. Also, they could mention that you don't want to use ice as it will leak. Instead, use icepacks. The cooler also has internal and external pockets for suntan lotion, mobile phones, keys, etc. It really is perfect for the pool and beach or anywhere that you want to have 1 bag that does many things, including keeping your drinks/food cold while keeping track of your miscellaneous items that need to be taken.
We purchased this cooler to take to Walt Disney World and it was the greatest! The only thing that I didn't like about it was that that the top section doesn't life very far to get into the main compartment. But we packed beverages and sandwiches chips the whole deal and the best part was the extra compartments for hand wipes, sunglasses etc. Very durable we even used it for a carry-on when going to FL and packed our cameras, port dvd player etc in there and on the way back we put other stuff in it and just checked it as a suitcase. Over all an excellent item!!!!!
I like the cooler but the only thing I would change would be that the top to the cooler part would open up more to access the cans, other wise it was comfortable to carry while hiking.
This cooler is great. My 11 year old daughter can transport it even when it is full. It even rolls well across the beach. the only thing i would caution you about is that the cooler will leak if not placed in the upright position.
I've had this cooler for over 5 years and it's been terrific. Very durable and holds quite a bit. We bought it to strap (via bungie cords) to our Seadoo. The backpack straps feature are great for getting from the Seadoo to a picnic area without getting everything wet or for hiking. We also use it for transporting food and drinks for outdoor concerts. The size is perfect for 2-4 people. The separate storage area for hot items on top and cooler in the large bottom area is perfect. We use the front pocket for plates and utensils and keys. The wheels maneuver well and are fairly sturdy. I just can't say enough good things about this cooler. We've even had compliments on it from passersby as well as people who joined us.
I use this product as my lunch box every day so it finds a lot of use. The top to the large compartment can not open fully due to the handle in the back. It should have been hinged from the side. Both the small top compartment and the large lower compartment could use a firm plastic lining. Without the firm lining it lacks firmness. I found a small plastic insert for the top compartment but because the lower compartment only opens about halfway it would not be possible to install a large after market liner in the cooler. On the positive side I love the appearance, the multiple pockets, and the narrow rolling design. To date it is yet most of what I was looking for so I would probably buy another. It could use the improvements I mentioned above and if someone does something about those items I would buy the new and improved one, even at a $10 increase.
The 17" 2-Section Rolling Cooler is: Light, functional, easy to handle, pack/empty, transport on buses and trains without disturbing passengers. Storage compartments hold heavy Liquid Litters, solid items, produce well. Lengthening the storage body height for added room would be ideal. Also, a “flip-back” top unit would allow quick access to the lower storage compartment; once unzipped without a struggle..
For the price this cooler was a great buy. I bought for a ice skating meet and it functioned beautifully. It kept my cold items cold. I was able to store a lot of food and drinks and then some. I would recommend not putting ice in it unless you put the ice in a zip lock bag to contain the water. Otherwise you could end up with a wet mess.
I was worried about the amount of space available when I ordered, but I am more than satisfied. It will hold a lot more than it looks like, and the combo of wheel and backpack makes it very versatile.
Used this cooler twice and now it leaks, I can only assume the the seams leak as there are no rips in the lining.
