Purchased this expecting it to be questionable in quality based on other reviews. I was pleasantly surprised that the seals are great and if I ever question the quality I will reseal it if I feel really ambitious. For $30.00 you will not find the same quality sub box.
WELL CONSTRUCTED ITEM FITS PPERFECT
I originally bought this for a 10inch sub with a small 300 watt amp and it held up OK, but when I upgraded to a stronger sub (Memphis) and a much bigger 1000 watt amp I had to tweak a couple things. First the wiring that came pre-installed had to be upgraded, I used 14 gauge speaker wire and spade connectors. The second thing was having to seal the sub against the box, I could not do it but a local car audio shop was more than happy to help, they sealed it so nice that I havnt had to touch a thing and thats been 6 months ago. If you decide to buy this, be careful when putting the screws in. Overall its a great product, if I wouldnt have had to tweak those things I would have rated it a perfect 5.
While this box has been good, you can upgrade the inside by taking the fabric OUT, and spraying the inside with a basic undercoating. then upgrading the wires to a higher gauge wire like 12ga or 10ga too. I still have this box and its holding up very well If you want the best overall value to get your system started, this is the way to go.
Keeps it some what air tight and does what it has to do..
The summary summarizes it: The box makes more noise than the subwoofer it contains. I wired it up with a nice Image Dynamics ID10, and then did a sweep with a tone generator. The box's joints aren't tight or well sealed - it vibrates, rattles and goes "frrrrrt" on some notes. It wasn't expensive, but I guess I expected more. I'll probably rip it apart and reassemble it properly, but shouldn't have to do that. I remember a time when Scosche was good quality stuff, I guess those days are gone.
First of all this is not a picture of the Scorche SE10R. There is no poly fill in the SE10R. The joints inside are not 100% sealed either. I have an old 10" subwoofer 125w rms (weak to todays standards) and it cracked the seals inside the box. So now the enclosure is worthless. They apparently didn't even glue the panels together before/while brad nailing them. Also, paying $30 for particle board of some sort is outrageous! I could deal with that price if the entire enclosure was made of HQ 3/4" MDF, but it's not. Only the baffle is 5/8" MDF. The rest is 1/2" particle board of some sort. The brad nails are not even hitting the top panel behind the baffle. With construction quality a must for a sealed enclosure. This is a HUGE letdown! Even if it was only $30.
