my husband & i tried a couple different monitors. We were getting very discouraged until we found this one. It works great! And I love the two settings to where you can have it set to hear EVERYTHING (including the next room) or just set to hear if your baby makes a noise. This is a definite reccommend.
This monitor is great. You can go outside with it on and still hear everything in the house, it has a feature to where it only comes on when there is noise to be heard, so u dont have to listen to the white noise all night. It comes with 2 recievers which i think is great bc i can keep one up stairs and one down. I would reccomend this to anyone, It is an awsome product.
We've been using this monitor for about 3 weeks now & so far, I really love it. It's a lot bulkier than our other monitor (not exactly a handheld/pocket stuffer), but that isn't why I bought it in the first place. My main concern was getting something that wouldn't interfere with the monitor we currently have for our 1st son. The way our home's floor plan is laid out, both kids' bedrooms are at the other end of the house, so monitors really are needed in both rooms - even though our oldest is 2 1/2. The Sony monitor has FANTASTIC sensitivity. The baby has been sleeping across the room in a glider instead of his crib, but the monitor still picks up every little whimper. Turn it up even more & I can even hear him sucking on his binky - I love it! Some may consider the sensitivity a little TOO sensitive, but not me. I really appreciate it. We have had no interference trouble with cordless phones or any other electronics... the only thing, I've noticed some added static on our older son's monitor... but it hasn't been enough of a problem for me to really work on fixing it. IN SHORT: So far, we've had absolutely no problems with the Sony monitor. Definitely recommend it. Definitely would purchase it again.
After reading the reviews on this baby monitor we decided that it sounded like a good one. The purchase was smooth and came in a timely manner. We are extremely please with the baby monitor. It picks up every breath. There are two settings so you can monitor every breath or only voice activated when a louder noise is made. Works Great!
I'm pretty disappointed that after reading all of the other reviews, no one else mentioned that if you get within even 5 ft of one of these recievers with a cell phone, or other electronic device, the static and interferance is horrible! Out of the 27 available channel configurations, it doesn't matter which one it's on.........having said that, when there isn't any interferance, it is quite clear, but it's really annoying that we can't walk through the kitchen without hearing loud beeps and static should we be on the phone...... I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone with any other sort of electronics in the house......that includes the alarm clock and digital phone.....I had to put the monitor across the room on a bookshelf just so it would stop giving me static.
we bought this in june '09 and hardly ever used it because i slept in the baby's room. we used it probably 3-4 times a week initially, for very short periods of time (half and hour to an hour or so). then i moved back into my own room about a month ago so i use it every night. over the last 2 weeks we noticed that it shuts itself off randomly. the light goes off and it stops transmitting sound. it starts working again once you turn it off and back on, but that doesn't do much good if you're asleep and don't realize that it has stopped working. it is not a battery issue--we charge them regularly. and i am always careful to carry the receivers by the base since you're not supposed to carry them by the handles. so i have done nothing to cause the malfunction. i called sony, and i either have to pay to repair it or buy new batteries for $70 each! i paid $70 for the whole unit, with the batteries included! so now i'm out $70 and i'm really disappointed. i really liked this monitor--it transmitted sound really well and you could hear everything going on in and around the baby's room. that is the reason i gave a rating of 2 stars--otherwise it would only have been one star. now i have to go out and buy a new monitor, and i'm not happy about it.
We have a small house with basement so there should be no problem with reception. I can be on the main floor and if it's turned just right it will start beeping. I've changed frequencies and a few days/weeks later it starts up again. If I set it next to my pump or take it down to the laundry room or computer room it acts up. Thank goodness my husband has not had to use it when mowing as I don't think it would work out in the yard. We have twins so there pretty much needs to be someone in the house at all times. I'm disappointed overall.
This is the worst monitor I have ever used. I purchased it to replace our old fisher price monitor that was lost in our last move. I expected from the reviews, and the name brand that this would be a good, quality monitor. I was SO wrong. The first night we brought it home, it started out working perfectly, but it stopped working in the middle of the night, and I woke up to this horrible buzzing hum coming from the receiver. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Some of the time it would work ok (still an annoying buzz) and others, it wouldn't pick up anything other than the buzz. I'm guessing it was all due to interference, but i tried it on EVERY channel, and every one was the same. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone. After about 3 weeks trying to make due with this one, and hoping it would work, I went out and purchased a Graco digital monitor, which is crystal clear.
I paid over $70 for this at the time, which makes the situation even worse. My house is only 1600 square feet and if I use this monitor it beeps non-stop, to indicate that you are out of range or that it has lost signal. I literally cannot use this in my home because all it does is beep, and my home is by no means large. Forget about taking it outside. I've tried ever channel on it, and that makes no difference. To use it I had to leave the listening part about 1/2 way between the room I'm in and the baby's room and turn the volume all the way up so I could hear it in the other room. It's very frustrating. The beeping is very annoying and will drive you crazy! I wish I could give this a zero and no stars because it was a complete waste of my money. I went to the dollar store and got a Fisher Price monitor off the clearance rack and it has done a much better job. The only good thing I can say about the monitor is that it holds a charge for a long time.
This monitor clicks, and cuts out. It is horrible all you can hear is static and the annoying clicking sound. The receiver also starts beeping and saying out of range when it hasn't moved and is in the room right next door. Was returned our next trip to Walmart.
