I have many Suncast products and satisfied with everything I have purchased. To make it brief I needed a dog house for a stray that no one has claimed. I searched for dog houses and it appeared all I viewed was either too expensive or cutesy without quality. I received this item in approximately three days of my order. We put it together and the lid is not difficult to put on if you sit on it. In other words, the lids snaps on in three areas at the back and you need to apply a lot of pressure. There is no latch and it does not snap closed, at least not the one I received. We are going to make a hole thru the top underside and wire it so it will stay closed tightly. We cut a hole in one end for the dog to go inside. We have heating pad and straw inside. We put this product under roof on a patio area. The dog seems to love it. It is simple to put together and it just snaps together. It is water proof because the lid covers the entire top and there is no way water can seep into it unless you don't put it together correctly or you received one that is damaged. i have a huge 'Lifetime' deck box and if you are familiar with those, this Suncast item is a lot lighter weight and thinner material but still good quality for most average uses.
I was amazed just how easy this is to assemble. No tools or screws required. Perhaps a little elbow grease to click the lid into place. Looks great and sturdy.
Have been using this deck box for many years to store all kinds of summer items. It has held up well and is like brand new. So, I searched online for the exact same box. I have been storing my chair cushions under a tarp on top of the deck box until one morning when our dog reacted to something above from below the deck. Those cushions became a cozy bed for one very "make yourself at home" raccoon...thus the need for box 2. Love this box...my son had it put together within 15 minutes. My cushion now have a dry safe place.
Holds (3) chaise cushions, (4) chair cushions, and (1) love seat cushions easily. Everything remained dry after the heavy rains over the past few days. I was able to put it together with no tools; however, I have not affixed the top by snapping lid into top back panel. I had to address another time sensitive issue. Had the box almost one week.
The setup of this product was easy and straight forward and required no tools at all. The instructions were clear and well done. The storage box seems strong and well made and includes plenty of room for storage. It also feels sturdy as a bench and I will likely buy another one to also place on my deck for additional outdoor items.
I am very happy with this bench/storage solution. When I moved to a smaller apartment with a pretty back patio I found I had no space for all my gardening supplies and so needed attractive outdoor storage that would also serve as seating. I added a pretty cushion to the top and have ample room inside for the pots, soil and tools that I use for container gardening. As for the sturdiness of the bench, I found out how sturdy it is when it arrived in a box so torn up that I was sure the contents must be damaged. On taking out the parts though and snapping them together with no need for any tool I found not a single scratch or any type of damage at all! Amazing! I am giving it 4 stars now because I have only had it a week, but if, after going through the summer and being put under cover through a Vermont winter it is still in good shape, I will give it 5 stars!
Ordered 2 deck boxes for my pool deck and I am extremely pleased with them. They went together very easily without tools and they have a trememdous amount of storage space. The sitting area on top is very generous and very sturdy and the boxes look very nice, too. All in all, a great value. But, I only gave it 4 stars because I ordered it shipped to my local store, and it took almost 3 weeks to come in.
This came in just 6 pieces so it seemed relatively easy to put together...im not good at putting things together at all...so after a failed attempt, I needed my husband to do it. I have another great quality cushion box in my backyard and this one did not compare but it would have cost too much to send it back. While it is pretty sturdy and looks like it could stand the test of time with the wind, weather etc. The closing mechinism on the top is cheap and flimsy. We both had to practice closing it as it takes a little meneuvering to get it to snap in place. If i had seen in in the store and been able to test I would not have bought it. We can fit cushions for a outdoor love seat and 2 chairs but thats it and its stuffed to the brim. This size is good if u have fewer or smaller cushions.
I was hoping for it to be a little bit more sturdy. When one adult man weighing 180 pounds sits on it it starts to wiggle when two people sit on it you can wiggle it pretty easy. The whole point to us purchasing this particular one was reasonable price and you could sit on it. It does keep the water and moisture out so that's good.
Good overall construction for an outdoor box. This lid on the box overlaps to close but if it's not level the lid will be crooked so be sure to level it. It isn't air tight which allows stuff to breathe but it is mostly waterproof as seen in last thunderstorm. All pieces were clearly marked by a "Letter" and construction was simple while each piece interlocks to the next. I would beef up the plastic catch wires that hold the lid but they serve the purpose I guess. I laid mine on a shipping skid. This box IS lockable and it has a 1/4" hole to use either a cable lock or a long armed padlock. I can fit a full 6 gallon bucket with lid inside this box and close the lid to give an idea of it's height. This was perfect for me to store garden materials.
