I made this for my son's first birthday. It was a race car theme. It was pretty easy to make. I did a trial cake first to see how it was going to go and I couldn't believe it actually looked like a race car! I built up the back end and gave it a spoiler...LOL. I am going to make my nephews 8th birthday cake this December and he also wants a car so I get to use the pan again! YAY.
This is a great pan! I have it for a few years now, originally for a 5th birthady. Since then, I used it for over 10 different times. A different frosting, and it looks, well, different. Can be used for car lovers of any age!
I bought this pan for my husband's 47th birthday. He is the ultimate car nut. I transformed this car into a 79 Pontiac Trans Am (Smoky and the Bandit) but I used the LED wedding lights as headlights and then covered the lights in the back with red fruit roll ups. Then I used candles that flame the color of the candle. Red for the exhaust and blue for the NOS. None of this would have worked had the pan not made the shape really well. Since I used fondant shape was really important.
This pan is one of the most versatile pans out there! I have mad a Wiggles car cake, a police car and even Grave Digger Monster Truck from this pan!! I love that Wilton's 3D pan offer so many options from one pan!!!
This pan is really great. The details are all in the pan, you don't have to worry about the head lights being lopsided or the windows not the right size. It is so easy to change the look of it too from monster trucks to bumber cars. I think it is one of the easiest decorating pans.
I MADE THIS CAKE FOR MY SONS "GROOMS CAKE." BOTH HE AND MY DAUGHTER IN LAW ARE POLICE OFFICERS, SO I MADE IT INTO A POLICE CAR COMPLETE WITH RED LIGHTS AND A SPOT LIGHT. I PUT A PAIR OF SMALL HANDCUFFS ON THE BACK WITH THE WORDS "GOTCHA YA!" UNDER THEM. IT WAS A HIT!!
Used this pan to make a cake covered with fondant. I didn't expected it would be that easy to use. You can also use the pan as a guide when making the decors for the car.
I loved the pan. The only issue I had was the center took way longer to bake than the rest of the cake and dried out the thinner areas a little. The design came out awesome just wish there was better way to make cake bake evenly and still moist.
