OMGOODNESS!!! I will NEVER frost another cake without using this spray. My 3 year old grandson wanted a rainbow cake for his birthday. 7 brightly colored layers and it would have been a nightmare without this spray. No added taste and cake was so moist and delicious made 3 days ahead.
First time trying Spray N Seal and it's super nice, I don't know how I frosted my cakes before haha, with this spray frosting comes simple and smoth at the same time it keeps your cake moist and fresh. It doesn't add any flavor or color wich is great. If you're doing a cake you should have it. Easy to use, no messy and you can do many cakes with just one bottle. In love with this product.
Even though I haven't used it yet I still have it 5 stars & would certainly recommend it to my friends and family because my daughter has used it and simply LOVES it!! There's nothing worse than icing a coconut cake and having crumbs in it!! Just spoils the look of it!! But I've seen the outcome when spraying it first with Wilton Spray-N-Seal Crumb Sealing Spray & I can't wait till Sunday when I use it myself on my homemade coconut cake!! When my daughter 1st told me about it I thought to myself, "yes, and I bet it leaves a residue that you can taste as well as see but it doesn't!! Her cake was beautiful, not a crumb in sight, and it didn't have the slightest hint of an aftertaste! BINGO!
I purchased this item for my Niece which makes cakes all the time. She made a Birthday cake for someone in the family and it did a great job on the cake. Cake was not crumbly at all. Great product Great price. I would recommend this to anyone who bakes.
This sealing spray worked pretty well. I had never used anything like this before so I was skeptical. I even sprayed it on the cookie sheet that I flipped my cake onto and it helped when I sliced the cake to remove it from the pan. I cook my cakes in a 9x13 glass Pyrex and after it cools I flip it onto a foil lined cookie sheet to ice it and cut it. The spray worked exactly how it was supposed to, there were no crumbs in my icing. The only downfall that I had was that it was kind of greasy even after letting it dry in the fridge for 3 minutes. My icing kind of moved around because it was slick. But all in all it was good and you couldn't taste it or feel that it was on there.
I didn't realize something like this existed until I saw this. I thought I would try it out because I was curious to see if it worked. I tried it on a recent cake and it seemed to prevent any crumbs from getting caught up on the icing. I look forward to trying it again on a different cake recipe to see how it holds up. We didn't notice any unusual smell or taste from using the product. That was probably my greatest concern. If you struggle with crumbs getting in your icing or you don't want to mess with putting 2 coats of icing on your cake, I would check this product out.
I am not sure how frequently cakes fall apart but this spray will certainly bind your baked goodies together to be frosted smoothly and evenly. The spray has no offensive smell, nor residue, but goes on evenly and holds cakes firmly together. I have never used those types of sprays before but this was well worth the investment.
I was surprised to see that Wilton made a sealing spray, and it does what it says! Spray your cake evenly, and set it in the fridge for a bit before frosting. No crumbly pieces! Its main ingredient is Coconut oil, so I wonder if other spray oils could do the trick as well. Tasteless, odorless and it works!
I bake daily and once and as while curmbs become a problem when trying to spply the frosting. I solved the problem by dusting off the cake before applying the frosting. My issue wirh this Wilton sprayis it contains tree nuts. Alergies are serious and I avoud them in alll my baking. This product could be very harmfull if your sensative to wheat, soy or milk. It is slways important to read product labels throughly before using.
The Wilton Spray and Seal is an interesting idea, but in reality, it's not a great product. When I used it, I had fewer crumbs in my frosting, but there were still crumbs thus requiring a crumb layer on my cake. I still found it far more effective to simply chill the cake before frosting it. This appears to simply be a can of coconut cooking spray in hyped packaging. I tried it on a second cake that had a fairly smooth top crust and when I used the spray, it just added oil making it impossible to get the frosting to adhere and I had to try to wipe of the oil so that I could frost it. Also, it adds more fat calories to an already rich dessert. This product simply seems unnecessary since there are other effective techniques to use when frosting a cake
