Nice heavy well made pan . You cant go wrong with a Wilton! I bought another brand because Wilton was out of stock . Mistake on my part its not as big or well made . Uses a box cake mix directions on box .My only grandchild LOVES this pan . Excellent buy Unser 20.00
I used the top for my youngest granddaughter 's 1st Birthday smash cake. The bottom I served as a second cake, for those who wanted a non chocolate version of birthday cake.
Easy to use. Definitely put a pan under it for stability.
Love this pan. Plan to use it often. I wish that I could get a box to put it in. Had to get creative to trans port it to my granddaughter 's house.
I purchased the pan two weeks ago to make a 1 year old smash cake and I am glad I did.
It is correct that it takes more batter to completely fill both ends of the pan so they meet. You can make up some of the space with frosting though like you would two layers of cake. The comment about the bottom taking longer to bake is correct. So I filled the bottom end of the pan and filled the top (swirled end) 10 minutes later. This worked pretty well.
I found this at a yard sale and now I know why. I had same experience as another reviewer the swirl side cooked properly and the other took much longer. Next time I will put much less batter in the base and more in the topper. Because both sides baked with a high dome a good portion of the cake will be cut off in order to put the two pieces together. This may have been caused because I took a while to put the cake in the oven as I divided the batter to add coloring.
Just got this and it was a big mistake!!!!! Should be 2 separate pieces as one gets done before the other. followed the directions and they were off!!!!!!! Took more batter than the said.
The top of the cake cooks faster than the bottom. If you are using this pan you have to bake the top and bottom separately. Disappointed.
