I got a great price on this bike. It was $50 off. I live on dirt roads so I needed a mountain bike. The thing I like best about it is the fat tires. It seems to be easier to ride on my dirt roads than my last bike. Walmart normally assembles their bikes free of charge before you pick them up but I was anxious and bought mine unassembled. It was relatively easy to put together. I weigh over 200 pounds so I bought a big cushy seat as well. I'm also going to buy a handlebar riser to bring the handlebars up a bit. I've only ridden it a few times but I have to say Im very happy with this solid bike.
this bike is truly amazing here are the specs: HANDLEBAR: aluminum STEM (inside): steel, with alloy cap WHEEL: alloy with kenda 700 x 25c all condition road tires FRAME: aluminum with carbin fiber in rear triangle (where the tire is) FORK: all carbin fiber SHIFTING SYSTEM: shimano 14 speed v-brake shifters with acera rear direailer, and a megadrive low first gear (for hills) NOTES: this bicycle is a great value!!!!! it rides smooth, crisp gear change, VERY lightwheght, there is so many good things about this bike i cant fit it all in this review!! and dont worry about compairing this bike vs a 21 or 24 speed you wont be shifting gears the whole time!
Bike rides good, I like the wider tires. Comfortable ride. A lot of bike for the low price. Of course I had to spend some time adjusting and tightening everything up, which is normal for any bike purchased from Walmart, or any such Chain business I am always surprised by the number of bad reviews based on people needing to tighten, and adjust things on a new bike. That is expected, and normal, as they are just thrown together in the back of the store, before being put on display. If you can't check the bolt for tightness, make the adjustments needed, just stay a pedestrian, or go pay 1500.00 at a bike shop
I ride 6 to 8 miles everyday and bought from store assembled, had it for about 3 weeks now. I ride for exercise as the best part of my physical therapy because of a total knee replacement. I'm 220lbs. so I purchased a wider seat for comfort and have had NO problems. Really smooth shifting and has a great ride too. I would definitely recommend this bike to my family and friends. In fact, just about every time I go to get on it I have to adjust the seat back up because my 12 year old grandson lowers it so he can ride it too even though he has his own new bike we bought at the same time. 2 thumbs up.
Is easy to asamble, compare to another brands @ bicycle shops, you get way more for your money, ligth weigth, super components, need to say more?
forget the negative hype you've heard about department store bikes. materials and workmanship are vastly improved as brands compete for our loyalty. I've ridden competitively for decades and i rely heavily on these consumer grade bikes for brutal outdoor winter training, needing only normal maintenance, and this huffy was assembled by walmart staff perfectly. Yes I race on Treks and Cannondales but the Huffys and Schwinns do all the bullwork, maybe a thousand miles per winter, and they've earned my respect. I'm sure a casual rider can get years of trouble free use. Occasional adjustments are needed on any equipment, whether in use or stored.
I've had mine for 3 days and I've rode 30+ miles on it already. Chain does slip every now and again, but I'll figure it out. Nice looking bike, rides okay. I would rate it a 9 out of 10. 4.75 out of 5 just rounds to 5, so... I think it's a very good bike.
The bike I received was equipped with Shimano flat bar shifters with display of current gear, Acera rear derailleur and Shimano's MegaRange cassette. The front derailleur is Shimano with no model number. The flat handlebar with a U shape at the bottom is an aluminum alloy. The stem and seat post are steel. Excellent grips on the handle bars. Pedals are resin with straps. How does it ride? Very smooth. My first ride was on a brick street and it was a welcome improvement over even medium priced steel or all aluminum frames. Wheels have no label but are a good match for the frame. Shifts were crisp and prompt in all gears. Easy to use the thumb and pull shifters. They are not the drop down type. The gear selection windows are nice! Welds on the frame are neat and evenly done. The carbon fiber fork and seat stays really give this bike a nice, comfortable ride for recreational and bike enthusiast riders. I am 68 years old and ride 10-35 miles every day that Florida weather permits. This bike was easy to assemble at least for me. It is a great value for my riding needs. I'm using as a second bike. My first bike is all carbon and cost $3,000. For the price of this Technica, even at full retail, I consider it an unusually great value.
This is a good bike at a great price. I was looking for a good commuter bike and this fits the bill. Light weight, good components and a very reasonable price for what you get. My only criticisms would be that the bike box had a hole in it when it arrived at the store and there were some resulting scuffs on part of the bike. Not a huge deal, but still. I've ridden it several times to work and it's a nice ride. Smooth shifting, pretty comfortable, obviously much faster than my old mountain bike. I'm pretty pleased and will be using it a lot.
I bought this bike a couple of weeks ago from Walmart.com, for in store pickup. I was told that someone in the store could assemble it, but when it arrived, no one who worked there knew how. They said someone could who wasn't around, but they couldn't tell me when that person would be back. Same day? The next day? Next week? I chose to assemble it at home. Although the assembly was fairly simple, the instruction manual didn't match this particular bike. Huffy did have a phone help line that was useful in this regard. During assembly, I noticed that the gear shifters on the handlebars were damaged. When I took it out for the first ride, I confirmed that they were broken. Of the 3 front gears, I could only shift into 2 of them; and of the 7 rear gears, 4 were usable. Even when changing into these gears, the chain tended to slip off regularly. Huffy said they would ship replacement shifters. I also noticed that the front wheel wobbled, causing it to scrape against the brake pads. I called Huffy again, and they offered to send a replacement wheel. In the process of working on the wheel, the front brake line broke with barely a touch. At that point, I decided to return Huffy's replacement parts and just return the bike to Walmart. I do NOT recommend this poorly made bike.
